Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , on July 19, 2013 by Tickets There

IMG_5460[1]Oh yes! After winning the prestigious, Tickets There’s ‘Song of the Year’,  title in 2011 (‘Animal Attraction’) and providing the song of this summer (‘Night On Fire‘), Reckless Love have announced they are coming back with a bang this September with the release of their third album, Spirit.

The Finnish über glam rockers have remained semi-tight lipped about their next effort until last night and today when they announced the release date and also the art work for Spirit. The band have also confirmed some song titles and that their next single will be ‘So Happy I Could Die’ which is due for release later this year.

[Updated 23/07] Track listing has just been release.

1. Night On Fire
2. Bad Lovin’
3. I Love Heavy Metal
4. Favorite Flavor
5. Edge Of Our Dreams
6. Sex, Drugs & Reckless Love
7. Dying To Live
8. Metal Ass
9. Runaway Love
10. So Happy I Could Die
11. Hot Rain

The group have announced a U.K tour for later this yet but there are currently no Irish dates included. Tickets There is of course disgusted and will be moaning about it to the band on their Facebook page until this issue is resolved. Anyone who saw them play Crawdaddy in 2010 and Whelan’s in 2011 will understand.

Break-in at Into The Void Records – Tattoo Equipment Stolen

Posted in Music, News with tags , , on July 15, 2013 by Tickets There

intothevoidOne of Dublin’s chief independent record stores, Into The Void, was broken into last night which has resulted in a decision to move the premises to another location soon.

Worst of all, about €2,000 of Tattoo equipment from The Devils Den Tattoos was stolen by the scumbags. ITV are asking for folks to be on the lookout for anyone selling Tattoo equipment around town and if you hear of it – please contact the store immediately. The owner of Devils Den is on tour at the moment so please send all details to Into The Void directly.  You can contact them through their Facebook page located HERE.

If you know anyone who works in the tattoo industry or owns a tattoo studio – please let them know to be on the lookout for dodgy sellers.

Full list of missing equipment coming soon.

Congratulations WARPATH – 2013 Irish M2TM Winners!

970756_690323680993089_2100694245_nThe WARPARTY is heading to England as Warpath have won this year’s Bloodstock Metal To The Masses final.

On Saturday night, Warpath competed against some of the finest bands in Ireland to take home the prize. They took on the might of Psykosis (you know we lovvve them), Animator (who were amazing and we love them too), AeSect (going to stop the bracket thing now – it’s annoying….but AeSect are savage as well), We Know Jack and Spector and still managed to conquer all. Not an easy thing to do, especially considering all the other bands TT managed to catch (before succumbing to sickness) put on incredible shows.

Tickets There would like to wish Dar and the lads a big congratulations and wish them the best of luck at Bloodstock next month when they play alongside the likes of SLAYER, KING DIAMOND, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GOJIRA, MUNICIPAL WASTE, DARK FUNERAL, ACCEPT and many, many more. Warpath will also now have performance slots at Wacken Open Air 2014 along with two other festivals. Not a bad prize at all and we know they’ll kick ass.

Well done lads and good luck!

Warpath1*Old file photo – TT just wan’t up to getting down front on Saturday. Too bloody hot!

PSYKOSIS and SCIMITAR Added to EVILE Gig

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , on July 1, 2013 by Tickets There

19892_497862090282528_1945574900_nA happy day for Tickets There as Psykosis and Scimitar have been added as the main support to Evile when they make their September (low price) return to Dublin.

After reportedly playing a blinder supporting Kreator back in April; the English thrash metal legends are returning to Dublin for their very own show. Why go see them twice in one year? Well, because they kick ass, they’re only charging €7.50 for the ticket and now they have the mighty Psykosis supporting them. If you need more reasons (*insert mocking expletives here about yourself*).

September 27th @The Button Factory. Tickets €7.50 – Doors 7.00PM

You can stream the album for free and download for a ‘Pay what you want’ scheme. If the quality is anything compared to the first single, ‘Death From Above’, we’re in for a real treat. Tickets There would like to wish Ryan, Darren, James and Barry well with the record. Looking forward to spinning this instead of the new Meadeth and Sabbath albums.

Dave Lombardo Officially Out of Slayer

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 31, 2013 by Tickets There

slayer_dave

The news we were all dreading and expecting has arrived. Dave Lombardo is officially out of SLAYER…. Again. Slayer confirmed the news last night and named Paul Bostaph as their new drummer. That’s right, it’s 1992 again.

Paul took over the sticks from Dave 19 years ago when the band had their last major falling out drummed with them on Divine Intervention, Undisputed Attitude, Diabolus In Musica and God Hates Us All before leaving due to an elbow injury which lead to a reconciliation between the band and Dave.

Dave has been absent from the band this time since February when apparent monetary disagreements left Dave out of an Australian tour. The confirmation that he is fully out will add more sadness to Slayer fans after losing founding member and legend, Jeff Hanneman earlier this month. Hopes were high that Jeff’s passing might help the lads see what’s really important and reunite as a band. Unfortunately this is not the case. Their touring line-up for 2013 will be completed by Gary Holt from Exodus filling in for Jeff.

Slayer play Dublin’s Academy on June 10th and 11th before playing Belfast on June 12. All three dates are sold out.

977761_10151651962837089_931681852_oBlack metal fans in Ireland are probably the most hard done by in terms of gigs; but no more! This Saturday (May 25th) The Pint will host a full on Black Metal Assault with four bands playing on the night. If you like Black Metal – make sure you head out and show your support. For more details, links to the band’s profiles and videos – check out the official Event page on facebook. Running order for the night can be found below,

Aeternum Vale – 19:45

R.I.P. Ray Manzarek (1939 – 2013)

Posted in Music, News with tags on May 21, 2013 by Tickets There

music-ray-manzarekNews broke last night that Ray Manzarek, a founding member of The Doors, has passed.

Ray will forever be remembered for his iconic organ intro on ‘Light My Fire’ (or even better – ‘Break On Through’) and his incredible contribution to all the Doors records. For this writer, having a band like the Doors without a bass player was a complete mystery  of how they made it work and Ray was that mystery. His atmospheric, era defining style was as crucial to the Door’s success and appeal as any of Jim’s lyrics, Robby’s riffs and John’s beats.

Rest In Peace Ray.

Phil Lynott Statue Damaged Overnight

Posted in Music, News with tags , , on May 10, 2013 by Tickets There

phil-lynott-statueSome b*stards in Dublin have gone and knocked over the statue of icon Thin Lizzy frontman, Phil Lynott. Apparently they were in ‘high spirits’ according to Phil’s mum, Philomena and they meant no harm. I have deleted the original comments I wrote about them as the anger has cooled down. Estimates are that the statue will be back on Harry Street in one week.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident. If you saw anything – please call your local Garda station and report anything you might have seen on Harry street at that time. A picture of the damage can be seen at Hotpress.com.

GAMA BOMB Release Clip from ‘Shitting Yourself to Live’ Video

31930_539926336029359_1651500463_nGAMA BOMB fans will remember the call to help them film a video for the next single from their fourth album, The Terror Tapes which hit shelves last month (review still to come – bad Tickets There). The band called fans down to Mabo’s in Dublin at the start of last month to film a chaotic video that should be airing soon. Judging by the clip, things seem to have gone pretty well!

First Image of Metallica’s ‘Through The Never’ 3D Movie

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , on May 10, 2013 by Tickets There

Through The Never (2013) Dane DeHaanMetallica never do things by half in fairness. Instead of going down the old route of releasing a basic live DVD, they’re going full on 3D IMAX for their new movie/concert file, ‘Metallica Through The Never’. Details are sketchy but it’s going to be based on a Metallica concert happening in a city filled with chaos where one of their road crew gets sent on a mission and so on.

The first image was released this week (can be viewed there at the side) and the film has officially IMAX release date of September 27th. Filming of the Metallica scenes took place last year in Canada on a stage custom built for the movie. Dane DeHaan stars as the main character…well, aside from Lars, James, Robert and Kirk of course.

It’s been a while since Metallica made a move that excited me (three years and counting lads – get back to Dublin!) but this project sounds like it’ll be well worth watching. The movie will be generally released in October.

SLAYER Confirm 2013 Summer Tour Will Go Ahead

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on May 9, 2013 by Tickets There

20130509-195351.jpgIn the wake of losing SLAYER co-founder, Jeff Hanneman, last week, Tom Araya and Kerry King have just released a statement confirming their summer tour will go ahead as had been widely expected.

The band announced the news by posting the following statement on their Facebook page.

NOTE FROM TOM AND KERRY TO UK/EURO FANS:

“We know that our fans everywhere are hurting for the loss of Jeff just as we are.
We want to let you all know that when we come to Europe this summer in June, July and August, we’ll ALL be making noise together for our brother and dear friend Jeff… We’ll See you then!”

The statement will be slightly worrying to fans as original drummer, Dave Lombardo isn’t mentioned. Dave has been estranged from his band mates since March of this year. Exodus guitarist, Gary Holt will continue filling in Jeff’s position while Jon Dette is presumed to stay behind the kit.

Slayer play Dublin’s Academy on June 10th and 11th and The Limelight, Belfast on June 12th. All three shows are sold out.

HMV To Reopen Six Irish Stores?

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , on May 9, 2013 by Tickets There

HMVGood news for the cheap DVD and CD consumers as Hilco look set to provide a rescue package for six of the original sixteen Irish HMV outlets.

Stores in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Limerick might re-open if the filthy, nasty, miserable auld bunch of landlord scum agree to reduced rents in favour of supporting Irish jobs and less empty premises along Irish streets. Fortunately for Ex-HMV staff, Irish landlords have a history of being very open to reducing their preposterous rents.

It’s unknown currently which stores are likely to reopen, but it was reported a few weeks back that Dublin’s Henry Street premises was likely to open its doors once again.

Is this good news? Tickets There thinks so. Smaller shops and the bands they help still have a better chance than this time five years ago as large music retailers shift their focus more to games, movies and electronics. Also more jobs for the young and less empty shops on our streets.

CRASHDÏET NEED YOU – SAVE THE TOUR

Posted in News with tags , , , on May 6, 2013 by Tickets There

20130506-174417.jpgSwedish hair metallers Crashdïet need your help. After losing their manager, Michael Sundén, late last month, the band now finds themselves cut off from their own revenue and in need of funds to complete their 2013 tour dates in Europe.

The help get back and the road and avoid disappointing fans around Europe; the band has announced a fund raising campaign through Indiegogo where fans can donate from as little as €8 up to as high as they wish and get rewarded by the band. Rewards range from having your name on the next Crashdiet record, an ‘I Saved the Tour’ T-Shirt, on stage goodies – to a lifetime laminate that’ll guaranteed entry into any Crashdiet headlining show forever.

Even if you can’t make a show, this is a worthy cause for any of their fans. TT will be donating and we hope you will as well.

Adler Postpone All Tour Plans

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , on May 3, 2013 by Tickets There

adler-bandAdler, the group founded by former Guns N’ Roses drummer, Steven Adler, have announced the postponement of their planned summer/Autumn US and European tour dates. In a message posted on their blog, the band announced Steven’s return to rehab as the cause. The message can be read in full below,

“We regret to inform everyone that the Summer tour and European tour has been postponed. Steven has checked into an undisclosed rehabilitation center to continue working on his sobriety. We appreciate everyones support and understanding. We hope to make the dates up soon.”

In total, 61 dates have been affected by this announcement. A list of which can be viewed here.

Adler released their debut album, Back From The Dead, late 2012 to rave reviews. The album marked a significant milestone in Steven’s career and Tickets There for one hopes this will be his last time in need of help to overcome his addictions. Good luck dude, hope to see you back on the road soon!
