Graspop is coming out mighty strong this year. As one of Europe’s most scared festivals, the chances of a good line-up are always pretty decent and 2015 will be no different. They’ve managed to capture most of the mouth watering touring line-up’s this year.

KISS, Slipknot and Scorpions will headline the event with serious support coming from Judas Priest, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Exodus, KoRn, Body Count, In Flames, Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, PRIMORDIAL and many, many more. Full line-up details and ticket info available here.

One thing – Headliners are the best I’ve seen yet. Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Judas Priest and …ahem, ToTo will headline this four day extravaganza. That’s not all though.

Five Finger Death Punch, Backyard Babies, Opeth, Meshuggah, Hammerfall, D-A-D, Airbourne, Nuclear Assault, Exodus, H.E.A.T., The Quireboys, Exciter, Delan and again, lots more. Sweden Rock have confirmed they still have roughly 50 more bands to be announced so keep an eye on their official site for details as they unfold.

So, what are folks thinking so far?

Tower Records sell out of Metallica stock after Glastonbury performance

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 30, 2014 by Tickets There

20120502060717631Tower Records have confirmed this morning that they have completely sold out of Metallica stock after the band’s headlining performance at Glastonbury on Saturday night. Don’t panic though – fortunately a re-order was logged last week which should be filled tomorrow morning.

“We had to re-order all of our Metallica stock, as well as additional items we don’t normally carry”, confirmed James O’Brien, Tower manager. “Glastonbury supporters had been turning up all week to purchase Metallica stock and burn it outside in a large eco-friendly bonofire to protest the band’s inclusion as a Glasto headliner. Vegans, PETA, feminists, Apple product users, they all showed up to denounce the band. Once Metallica played though, they started buying the stuff to bring home – fucking eejits. Win win for us”.

In an apparent breakdown of popular culture, it seems the hipster world is now divided as thousands of bearded, legging wearing big wheel bicycle envy sufferers have cast aside their Arcade Fire albums to proclaim they are and always have been metal devotees.

“I saw Anvil when it was released, I’ve always been so into metal” claims twitter user @transformersshouldalwayshavebeenacartoon from Suffolk. In a series of tweets the user proclaims that heavy metal is a forgotten art for those who choose to use large music to show their feelings. “The guitars represent pain and the vocals represent more pain. The drums are also pain but the bass is the light. Metal is so diverse – the black album is like OK Computer or Funeral. I always preferred their earlier stuff though”.

Other metal bands, including Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Sepultura are expected to benefit greatly from the hipsters immediate need to prove how metal they are and while older Metallica fans are responding quite negatively and sarcastically to the hipster world’s sudden interest in the group, Anthrax fans are embracing them with one twitter user – @iloveANTHRAXthismuch|____________________| claiming this is a “good day for metal”.

Glastonbury organizers have also confirmed this morning that next year’s event will include a dedicated heavy metal tent called ‘They only sing about cruelty, they don’t actually do it – so you can enjoy them Stage’ and have booked Cannibal Corpse, Emperor, Exhumed, Mayhem and Exodus to perform. Ed Sheeran has also announced plans to release the first singer / songwriter metal album. The world waits with baited breath….

Exodus Part Ways With Rob Dukes

Posted in Music, News with tags , , on June 15, 2014 by Tickets There

560822_10151828959533200_1667321752_nWell, it’s been a while thanks to real work – but I wasn’t going to let this story just pass on by.

Legendary thrash metal heavyweights EXODUS, have parted ways with Rob Dukes. The story broke last week and it’s already been confirmed that the group’s most prolific frontman, Steve ‘Zetro’ Souza, is set to return and take back mic duties.

I have to say, I love Steve’s work with the band and honestly didn’t get into the last three albums as say Bonded By Blood and Tempo of the Damned (two nice obvious choices there), but Rob f**king Dukes! I’m going to miss that man a hell of a lot.

I first saw Rob front the band in 2010 when they played The Village. Metal night of carnage and stagediving. One of the highlights of metal gig going but it still paled in compression to last year’s Button Factory performance when Rob had security ejected from the venue after their harsh handling of stage drivers – one of the most metal displays of awesomeness I’ve ever been fortunate enough to witness.

Rob, best of luck in the future. You are a sh*t cool guy and an awesome front-man. Hopefully you’ll be back on the scene before long!

HNYTT

Bc-Y3hAIcAASH1vTickets There would like to wish all of our readers, commenters, followers and all the many amazing bands we love so much a very happy new year. 2013 was epically epic and 2014 is looking even stronger.

Before the first proper 2014 post (and yet another Tickets There reboot begins), I’d like to thank Psykosis, Warpath, Exzeltic, Overoth, Animator, Killface, Zombified, Dead Label, Gama Bomb, EHT Promotions, DME, Donnchadh from WMB Ireland, Dan and all the folks from Carnage, Slayer, Exodus, Death, Leonard Cohen, ASH, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, KISS, Slash, Reckless Love, Crashdiet, Twisted Sister, Helloween, Napalm Death, Whitesnake, Danzig, Testament, Metallica, Jameson, Guinness, Jägermeister, Buckfast, Trooper Beer, Fibber MaGee’s, Gypsy Rose, McKenna’s Dun Laoghaire, everyone at HELLFEST, The Academy, all the cool folks in the Odyssey (except A-hole security and Stalin like measures of control) and my girlfriend (co-conspirator) Dee for an amazing year of gig going, good times and drunken shenanigans.

Congratulations WARPATH – 2013 Irish M2TM Winners!

970756_690323680993089_2100694245_nThe WARPARTY is heading to England as Warpath have won this year’s Bloodstock Metal To The Masses final.

On Saturday night, Warpath competed against some of the finest bands in Ireland to take home the prize. They took on the might of Psykosis (you know we lovvve them), Animator (who were amazing and we love them too), AeSect (going to stop the bracket thing now – it’s annoying….but AeSect are savage as well), We Know Jack and Spector and still managed to conquer all. Not an easy thing to do, especially considering all the other bands TT managed to catch (before succumbing to sickness) put on incredible shows.

Tickets There would like to wish Dar and the lads a big congratulations and wish them the best of luck at Bloodstock next month when they play alongside the likes of SLAYER, KING DIAMOND, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GOJIRA, MUNICIPAL WASTE, DARK FUNERAL, ACCEPT and many, many more. Warpath will also now have performance slots at Wacken Open Air 2014 along with two other festivals. Not a bad prize at all and we know they’ll kick ass.

Well done lads and good luck!

Warpath1*Old file photo – TT just wan’t up to getting down front on Saturday. Too bloody hot!

Dave Lombardo Officially Out of Slayer

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 31, 2013 by Tickets There

slayer_dave

The news we were all dreading and expecting has arrived. Dave Lombardo is officially out of SLAYER…. Again. Slayer confirmed the news last night and named Paul Bostaph as their new drummer. That’s right, it’s 1992 again.

Paul took over the sticks from Dave 19 years ago when the band had their last major falling out drummed with them on Divine Intervention, Undisputed Attitude, Diabolus In Musica and God Hates Us All before leaving due to an elbow injury which lead to a reconciliation between the band and Dave.

Dave has been absent from the band this time since February when apparent monetary disagreements left Dave out of an Australian tour. The confirmation that he is fully out will add more sadness to Slayer fans after losing founding member and legend, Jeff Hanneman earlier this month. Hopes were high that Jeff’s passing might help the lads see what’s really important and reunite as a band. Unfortunately this is not the case. Their touring line-up for 2013 will be completed by Gary Holt from Exodus filling in for Jeff.

Slayer play Dublin’s Academy on June 10th and 11th before playing Belfast on June 12. All three dates are sold out.
