Christmas is upon us and Tickets There is imploring everyone to spread a little seasonal metal joy this year.
Never mind picking up crap in faceless stores for friends and loved ones – buy metal! Instead of spending more money than you’re happy to part with on some yoke you hope won’t be rejected outright, buy a Warpath t-shirt. Instead of fretting and running around shops trying to stay hydrated and alive in the queues – order the new Primordial album. Basically – buy metal, support your local scene this Christmas and spread metal joy.
Several local bands have stores and great stock for you to choose from. T-shirts, albums, everything a new metal fan could want. Works even better if you have mates into metal – spend a tenner on a savage gift and you’ve friends for life who can never say you didn’t get them something.
Here’s just a few of the web stores available If you want to add some, simply comment here or mail ticketsthere@hotmai.com. Don’t be afraid to spread the word – #shopLocal666
I read this last night and my hands have just now stopped shaking enough for me to post it. DME have confirmed that Nuclear Assault are coming to Dublin in 2015 and (get ready thrash fans) they’re going to be supported by Gama Bomb, Psykosis and Animator – Seriously!
All four of these bands will be playing together on one incredible night at the Voodoo Lounge on July 19th as part of Nuclear Assault’s Final Assault on Europe tour. No ticket details have been released yet but who the hell cares how much it costs? It’s happening and there’s no two ways about it. Not only Animator and Psykosis, not only Gama Bomb – but freakin’ Nuclear Assault as well! What are you even supposed to do with that?
Anyways, expect a messy Tickets There, a lot of beers, denim battle vests and savagery. If time allows, there may even be some tunes.
Summertime is fast approaching and that means festival seasons is almost upon us. That also means it’s time to find an Irish band on par with Coldwar, Warpath andOverothand send them over to Waken Open Air to represent Ireland in the Wacken Metal Battle!
The final six bands were announced this morning after Megalomania Production (in partnership with Carnage Metalclub) decided to forego the usual semi-final rounds. Going for the competition are Alpheidae, Animator, Killface, Shardborne, Theories Divide and Zhora.
It all goes down in Fibber MaGees on June 7th. Entry is just €5 and you can follow all the latest updates on their Facebook Event Page.
EHT have announced details for the second UNLEASHED FESTIVAL which is due to take place in Fibber MaGee’s this September. 28 bands have been announced so far with more to come. Once again the festival will take place over three days, with the third day being opened up for under age fans (no vodka, whiskey, tequila cocktails for you though – Ha!….my live hurts).
Sinocence, Malevolence and Sworn Against are topping the bills with some undeniably massive names from our local scene popping up over the three days, including Killface, Animator, Vile Regression, AeSect, Hollow Truth and many, many more. No details have been released on weekend tickets, but entry to the Friday and Saturday shows will cost a mere €8 each. Full line’s and dates can be viewed below. We’ll update you as more bands are announced and you can also follow updates from EHT on the Facebook Event page.
Unfortunately WARPATH have had to cancel their appearance at this event. CMP will announce a replacement headliner soon.

Yes, you really did read that correctly. Cunning Metal promotions have booked legendary Polish death metallers, VADER to play the last ever show at Waterford’s Forum venue. Not much notice on this so focus…

Stand by for Ticket details – in the mean time, HELL YEAH!
Cunning Metal Promotions are bringing some of the hottest name from the Irish metal scene to Waterford this month for a night of unadulterated lunacy.
WARPATH are set to headline the Waterford Metal Fest which is taking place in The Forum on January 25th. Also on the bill are Psykosis, Killface, Atominated, Xenocide, Animator, Zhora, Awaken Dominion, Uproot Chaos and 12 Guage Outrage, Legion of Wolves with more to be added. Tickets There would like to wish all of our readers, commenters, followers and all the many amazing bands we love so much a very happy new year. 2013 was epically epic and 2014 is looking even stronger.
Before the first proper 2014 post (and yet another Tickets There reboot begins), I’d like to thank Psykosis, Warpath, Exzeltic, Overoth, Animator, Killface, Zombified, Dead Label, Gama Bomb, EHT Promotions, DME, Donnchadh from WMB Ireland, Dan and all the folks from Carnage, Slayer, Exodus, Death, Leonard Cohen, ASH, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, KISS, Slash, Reckless Love, Crashdiet, Twisted Sister, Helloween, Napalm Death, Whitesnake, Danzig, Testament, Metallica, Jameson, Guinness, Jägermeister, Buckfast, Trooper Beer, Fibber MaGee’s, Gypsy Rose, McKenna’s Dun Laoghaire, everyone at HELLFEST, The Academy, all the cool folks in the Odyssey (except A-hole security and Stalin like measures of control) and my girlfriend (co-conspirator) Dee for an amazing year of gig going, good times and drunken shenanigans.
In typical Tickets There fashion, we found an album we loved. We listed to the hell out of it and never bothered for one second to put a word down on paper. For years we’ve struggled to express the excitement about albums we love, but that stops now because Animator’sBlacklisted deserves the attention of every metal fan in Ireland.
In Blacklisted, the Wexford lads have accomplished a truly memorable album, perfectly mixing writing quality, tight musicianship; all densely ground together to create something very special. Their diverse musical backgrounds fully complement each other as their sound screams through and you’re confronted with a thrash / hardcore assault of riffs, political angst and speed. First up to get the hearts racing, ‘State of Emergency’. Sirens, a brooding build-up; composed of John F. Kennedy’s 1961 ANPA address, breaking new stores snippets and James’s scream, “The shit has hit the fan this time, our nations on the brink” sets the tone for this entire record. ‘Death From Above’strikes hard and fast, but its allure begins to pale when listed before the epic ‘In God We Trust’. A magnificent masterpiece of thrash metal. In God We Trust is reason enough to own this album, but it’s just one of several prime cuts.
‘Ultra 53’ 🙂 begins to express more personal anguish through a mix of swooping riffs, spiralling leads and surprise turns before ‘Dreadweb’ knuckles it’s way in to deliver some of the most balls out riffs and screaming solos of the whole album. ‘Taking the Liberty’ and ‘Electric Armageddon’ continues the punishing and lands yet another quality tune from this record. ‘Western Shadow’ adds little unfortunately for this review, the breakdown into scratchy bridges leads us astray, but the closing anthem of anthems (since In God We Trust), ‘When Duty Calls’ is the closing crown jewel on this incredible debut.
After months of listening, it’s hard to pretend there’s no prior judgements here. But six months ago I knew Animator as a name only. However, one or two listens of this album will turn any fans of thrash metal into Animatoriacs. This is a band with the talent, power and hunger to go far and all you need to do is press play. Well done lads!
What is Ireland seriously lacking? That’s right, a proper metal festival – and some other stuff Tickets There doesn’t deal with. Unlike continental Europe and the U.K., Ireland lacks a serious metal festival despite obvious popularity for the genre. Perhaps M*D and @iken (I disguised their names ;)) are too flooded with Hip Hop/Hipster D4 elitists who lack the skills to see that almost every single metal show they host sells out, unlike many of their other ill-advised follies. So it falls to metal fans themselves to start things up and tonight, EHT have made a massive step in the right direction.
The Unleashed Festival is the first of what will hopefully become a much bigger annual festival. Three days boasting some of the best home-grown talent on offer. One day of the purest thrash from the meanest streets, one day of extreme metal and one day for the under-agers who need metal too. In essence, three days of metal that caters for everyone’s taste. Unfortunately this old fogey only managed the first night, but what a night.
Animator are first up for me tonight. It’s a special show for these guys as they officially launch their debut album, Blacklisted (review coming this week). Anyone that’s heard the record knows it’s bursting with instant classics and on stage, Animator have the chops to belt them out in perfect form. ‘In God We Trust’ steals their short set and sets the perfect tone for the night.
Exzeltic are up next and it’s special show for them tonight as well. Long-time guitarist, Connor Eustace has sadly parted ways with the band and has been replaced by Jamie Power. Despite this being the first major show for the new line-up, they pull it off with flying colours. Jamie steps up to the plate and delivers both new and older material with amazing technique. ‘Breaker of Nations’ and ‘Agents of Chaos‘ truly stand out and with new material now appearing, you can expect to see more of Exzeltic over the next year. Connor’s presence will be missed, but the lads prove tonight they’re not going anywhere but forward.
The cavalcade of who’s who in the world of Irish trash metal continues with Edenfire. The lads from Edenfire have been building steadily over the last couple of years, landing prominent support slots (including an opening slot with Exodus earlier this week) and raising their profile with every show. Live, they’re tight, focused and each one of them knows what they’re doing, a quality that is essential for thrash metal to work. Tonight is no different as they plough through a mix of tracks from their debut EP as well as other favourites. Edenfire are in the process of writing their debut album these days and it’s one well worth looking out for.
As the night rolls on, the large crowd swells, the pints turn to shorts and the terrifying, yet exciting sign of Buckfast begins. That perfect cocktail of merriness and early stages of ridiculous drunkenness serves as the warm welcome for the next band, Psykosis.
Taking the stage to a packed house, Psykosis produce a hail of riffs, aggression and fun for the gasping, sweaty crowd. Along with Exzeltic, Psykosis are also playing tonight with a slightly adjusted line-up as Rats from Dichotomy fills in for Tony Corcoran on guitar. Fans fear not – it’s just temporary, but man; Rats can certainly play. It’s incredible just how good these guys are. They blend everything that’s great about thrash metal and deliver it with youthful passion and fun. No sooner are the band on than the pit begins. Slowly at first before encapsulating the entire standing area. I’d love to give you the set they played but amongst the haze of Jameson and active pit participation, all I remember is bashing, ‘Toxic Fugitive’ and the best craic of the night. What a band and what a night. There’s only one thing left to do, enjoy tonight’s headliners GAMA BOMB.
Gama Bomb have long reigned supreme as the heroes of the Irish thrash scene. They have international acclaim, a massive arsenal of material from their four albums including this year’s incredible output, The Terror Tapes. On stage the band are on fire. They tear through their set with unrelenting power to a packed house. Build-up of quality throughout the night has been jaw dropping, but Gama Bomb display those additional years of experience and bring the night home in awe-inspiring glory. Moshing, stagediving, celling climbing and madness are this writers final memories before the madness spills into Club Carnage downstairs. A long awaited, but very welcome return to Dublin for Gama Bomb and hopefully they’ll return before the ringing notes of ‘Terror Tapes’ and ‘Hammer Slammer’ fade out from my ear drums.
Well done EHT Promotions, what a triumph of a night! All the bands outdid themselves and showed the how strong the Irish metal scene is. With debut albums pending for most of tonight’s line-up, you can expect a very exciting few years on the horizon!
On Saturday night, Warpath competed against some of the finest bands in Ireland to take home the prize. They took on the might of Psykosis (you know we lovvve them), Animator (who were amazing and we love them too), AeSect (going to stop the bracket thing now – it’s annoying….but AeSect are savage as well), We Know Jack and Spector and still managed to conquer all. Not an easy thing to do, especially considering all the other bands TT managed to catch (before succumbing to sickness) put on incredible shows.
Tickets There would like to wish Dar and the lads a big congratulations and wish them the best of luck at Bloodstock next month when they play alongside the likes of SLAYER, KING DIAMOND, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GOJIRA, MUNICIPAL WASTE, DARK FUNERAL, ACCEPT and many, many more. Warpath will also now have performance slots at Wacken Open Air 2014 along with two other festivals. Not a bad prize at all and we know they’ll kick ass.
Well done lads and good luck!
*Old file photo – TT just wan’t up to getting down front on Saturday. Too bloody hot!
Metal heads of Dublin; prepare to get excited as EHT are bringing us three days of thrash and death metal this summer. Fibber MaGees will host the event that’ll see thrash metallers Gama Bomb and the mighty Overoth headline. There will also be an under 18’s day of bands for those that can’t make the first two nights.
Line-up’s for the three shows are available below and there are just a few acts left to confirm. Tickets can be bought individually or a two day pass can currently be purchased for E20. A three day pass is currently being considered and TT will let you know when details have been announced.
Waterford thrash metallers, Animator, have just released their debut album through Bandcamp. Titled BLACKLISTED, the album comes out on EBM records and has been hotly anticipated by metal heads around the country.
You can stream the album for free and download for a ‘Pay what you want’ scheme. If the quality is anything compared to the first single, ‘Death From Above’, we’re in for a real treat. Tickets There would like to wish Ryan, Darren, James and Barry well with the record. Looking forward to spinning this instead of the new Meadeth and Sabbath albums.
Goodbye livers and brain cells, hello THRASH YOUR HEAD OFF \,,/. With the Day of Decay coming up on June 1st at Fibbers, Club Carnage have now decided to make things extra gruelling; by announcing a mouth watering line-up of thrash metal for the day before.
Psykosis, Atominated, Animator, Visceral Attack, Exzeltic and Edenfire are all playing on the night and entry is just €6, doors are at 8.30 and there’s drink promos and late night metal galore. You’d be half psychotic to even think about missing this gig.
Just to note, this night will also serve as the launch night for Atominated’s new EP, ‘World Without Flesh. Praise The Lord for thrash metal \,,/
Waterford thrash metallers, Animator, are promising great things from their debut album. Due to hit shelves ‘soon’ by EBM Records, Blacklisted is one of the must watch releases this year and the band have helped fuel the excitement with the release of a new song titled ‘Death From Above’. You can listen by playing the video below. We’re restraining ourselves here at TTHQ from reviewing and waiting for the album ….but, it’s fricking awesome. Check it out now and see for yourself.
EHT Promotions have just announced a thrash metal bash to end them all. This August, GAMA BOMB, along with Psykosis, Edenfire, Exzeltic,Animator and Snowblind will take over Dublin’s Fibber MaGees for a night of full on bullet belt mayhem. It all takes place on August 16th with tickets costing €15. Doors are at six so get there early.
Gama Bomb are currently gearing up for the release of their fourth album, The Terror Tapes which is out this Friday. Earlier this month the first single, ‘Terrorscope‘ was released on 7″ after initially being released as a free download in March. The artwork for Terror Tapes was designed by legendary horror artist Graham Humphreys (Nightmare on Elm Street / Evil Dead).
Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses is on! With Heat 1 wrapped up last night (the still waiting to hear the winners), there are now six heats left before the grand final on July 13th in Fibber MaGee’s. The Annual battle of the bands gives local talent from around the Europe a chance to play at this year’s Bloodstock Festival, as well as three other European festivals (W.O.A. 2014, Metal Camp, SL 2014 and OST in Romania).
Some of the biggest names in Irish metal are involved in the competition with another couple of bands (TT counts 1) still to be announced. A full list of the various heats happening between now and May can be found below. TT will be doing a weekly feature on each winner as they’re announced with the possibility of us begging our choice from the final seven for an interview. Like on our knees begging, none of this email nonsense.

The Boy In The Attic – Alablaster – Edenfire – Dead Aeon – Uproot Chaos – AeSect
The June Bank Holiday is looking better with a city stopping showcase of Irish metal. On Saturday, June 2nd; Dublin’s Edenfire launch their new EP and they’re bringing a few friends with them to get the job done right and proper.
Support on the night comes from Dead Label, Animator and Tickets There favourites; EXZELTIC. It all takes place at The Pint, June 2nd and entrance is only €5 on the door. CD’s of the new E.P. will also be available on the night for an additional €5.
Initially formed in 2003, after a few different iterations 2010 saw the best line up so far settled upon with Dan Monaghan (Guitar & Vocals), Tony Murphy (Bass & Vocals), Paul Murphy (Guitar) and Steven Maloney (Drums). Fusing a combination of melodic and thrash metal, Edenfire are a mainstay in metal gigs in Dublin. This is the first E.P. the band has recorded and it was made @ TrackmixTrackmix Studios earlier this year.
