Posted in Music, New Music, News with tags , , , , , , , on June 13, 2013 by Tickets There

922328_463819373702599_683130385_oWaterford thrash metallers, Animator, have just released their debut album through Bandcamp.  Titled BLACKLISTED, the album comes out on EBM records and has been hotly anticipated by metal heads around the country.

You can stream the album for free and download for a ‘Pay what you want’ scheme. If the quality is anything compared to the first single, ‘Death From Above’, we’re in for a real treat. Tickets There would like to wish Ryan, Darren, James and Barry well with the record. Looking forward to spinning this instead of the new Meadeth and Sabbath albums.

Hellfire()Sounds Review: Summoner (‘Infernal Incantations’ Demo)

Posted in EP Review, Hellfire()Sounds : REVIEWS, Music, New Music with tags , , , , on March 6, 2012 by Tickets There

Looking for a little Black metal meets thrash? Well no need to go scraping the bay of California or digging through the abandoned grave years on Norway – Ireland’s got you sorted. Summoner  are an Irish band (possibly from the late 200 BC) who dress like demonic druids and play extremely heavy, yet surprisingly accessible tunes. While some find the likes of Mayhem, Emperor and Venom hard to listen to, Summoner have added in a little bit of raunchiness into the typical bleak black metal soundscape which ends up as a thrashy, death metal fusing of the sounds.  They released their ‘Infernal Incantations’ demo in October 2011 so time to give it a spin.

Well it’s short. In total the demo comes in at 1.18 seconds with two tunes. ‘Into Mine Unseen Barrier Shall Thy Flesh Be Wrought’ kicks things off and acts as the demo’s opus clocking up an impressive 00:51 seconds on the clock. It still managed a fairly awesome intro, nice bit of riffage and lead and fairly full on, bleaker than black vocals. Don’t judge a man by his height, book by it’s cover or song by it’s length!. Final song, ‘Premature Incineration’ has all the hallmarks of a AAA VIP pass into hell. Short, bitter and brutal. While it may not be the most radio friendly genre out there, Summoner do it well but know this – we are keeping a closer eye on church fires from now on!

Beastmen – EP2 (Review)

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 23, 2011 by Tickets There

Ah hell yes! Beastmen are back with a new EP, a more spacious sound but! they ain’t forgetting the massive helpings of their guitar laden, riff filled instrumental metal that made us like them in the first place. We’re slightly late getting this review up but better late than never. The lads are hard at work on their 3rd EP so now’s your chance to check out what’s come before.

‘Horsehead Nebula’ kicks things off with fearsome power and energy. Full on galactic-electro dementia with massive helpings of ass kicking riffage! ‘Sunday’ is a little faster once the voice over’s and distant sirens fall off. The drums and guitars really cut a place for themselves and create a solid frame that explodes through the dense wall of noise that precedes their arrival.

‘The Streets of LV42’6 continues the post rock, electro vibes from Horsehead Nebula, but again explodes forth with some high toned guitars that wrap themselves around a sinister melody. Excellent tense/building in the structure and no sings of this EP letting up.

‘Intrö’ drops all the abundant space effects and retreats to the bands always excellent basic guitar, bass and drum formula for two and a half minutes of excellent instrumental rock. Beastmen always avoid the pit falls of knocking out normal tunes minus the vocals and always give the songs a proper playing field and Intrö is just another taste of this. El Maniaco Contra el Monstruo is exactly what you think it’ll be. Full-on Spanish styled desperado / Tarantino ‘situation ‘ music. Great finish to an excellent EP.

As mentioned, the band are working on EP3 and Tickets There cannot wait. Stream EP2 now on their official Bandcamp page and prepare to let a new band into your life.

MyTuneRox! – New Music based Social Networking Site Launching Soon

Posted in IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , on July 27, 2010 by Tickets There

Bandcamp may be taking over the reins of leading online musical display case for bands these days but the old social networking model isn’t over yet. MyTuneRox is the latest in online music networking and it’s all based right here in Ireland.

If you’ve used MySpace before you know the drill. Pics, friends, blogs and tunes. It’s aimed mostly at Irish bands from what we’ve gathered and there’s almost 200 bands already signed up.

The site kicks off officially launches next month but the beta version is up and running now. Even Tickets There has found time to throw a profile together…but for the life of us, we cannot figure out how to link to our home page so we’ll update the Follow Tickets There widget as soon as we do.

Check details of the sites Battle of The Bands @ Hotpress

And don’t forget to visit them @

Will Tickets There start doing MyTuneRox! Reviews? Yes, I believe we will 🙂
