#shopLocal666 – Support local metal bands

Posted in General Tickets There Blog with tags , , , , , , , , , on December 4, 2014 by Tickets There

10403112_10152836504737435_3322269395949245669_nChristmas is upon us and Tickets There is imploring everyone to spread a little seasonal metal joy this year.

Never mind picking up crap in faceless stores for friends and loved ones – buy metal! Instead of spending more money than you’re happy to part with on some yoke you hope won’t be rejected outright, buy a Warpath t-shirt. Instead of fretting and running around shops trying to stay hydrated and alive in the queues – order the new Primordial album. Basically – buy metal, support your local scene this Christmas and spread metal joy.

Several local bands have stores and great stock for you to choose from. T-shirts, albums, everything a new metal fan could want. Works even better if you have mates into metal – spend a tenner on a savage gift and you’ve friends for life who can never say you didn’t get them something.

Here’s just a few of the web stores available If you want to add some, simply comment here or mail ticketsthere@hotmai.com. Don’t be afraid to spread the word – #shopLocal666

10275943_686468261401211_8490055018114973289_nWhile we look in wonder and amazement at the continent and it’s incredible array of festivals that deliver the greatest bands on the planet, year after year – it’s important we don’t fixate too long or we’ll never get a chance to support and grow indigenous efforts to cater to the metal masses. Trevor’s tattoo’s have caused a commotion after blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Coldwar are playing the Voodoo Lounge tonight with the legendary Killface and mighty OVEROTH supporting them. €10 not only gets you entry, but you’ll get a free copy of the album as well. A gig with three savage bands and an album that’s being praised left, right and centre. What else could you ask for?

Entry: €10  (plus copy of Pantheist)
Killface 8-8.35.
Overoth 8.50 – 9.30

IMG_5558By Saturday all of us or going to be well sick of all this Valentine’s day nonsense. The flowers, the love, the pure and utter sh*te of it all (my comments have nothing to do with the fact that I’m recently single…). Anyways, to celebrate that day ending, CARNAGE have a pretty tasty line-up in Fibbers on Saturday the 15th.

For Ruin, Overoth & Rex Shachath are all playing upstairs in Fibbers under the carnage banner. It’s just €5 on the door which is a pretty amazing price for these three bands and don’t go forgetting the many drink promos that always come with Carnage. See you there!

Here’s a few very…..[honest]… unique pics from the night, plus a video and a snap taken of them live at Wacken (latter is not from TT). This was a great night out!

LIVE VIDEOS: OVEROTH / EXZELTIC / PSYKOSIS

Posted in Music, Music Video, News with tags , , , , , , , , on April 30, 2013 by Tickets There

After conquering the world of blogging, Tickets There thinks its time for the big screen. That’s right, we’re building up to a trillion dollar budget, 7D – multi-layer affect full length feature that’ll make Avatar look like a penny flip book from the 1400’s. Before we embark on our Hollywood adventure, we’ve decided to post three clips taken at a recent shows of Overoth, Exzeltic and Psykosis. These will stay up until the bands threaten to sue me.

They catch the bands right in the thick of things. Here’s a short note on each poorly displayed clip.

Overoth

Taken at their recent winning performance from the Wacken Metal Battle final @ The Pint – April 27th 2013.

Exzeltic

Taken at the same show as Overoth. Exzeltic performing one of their show stopping instrumentals.

Psykosis

Taken from a Fibber MaGee’s show earlier in the year. The date? Gone with the liquor that made me forget it. Oh, April 13th actually (it’s in the title :))

Forward all soliciter mails to ‘He Who Shall Not Be Named’, Tickets There Headquarters, Dublin, Ireland, The World.

OVEROTH Win Wacken Metal Battle Irish Final 2013

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on April 28, 2013 by Tickets There

20130428-080813.jpgCongratulations to OVEROTH, winners of the 2013 Wacken Metal Battle Irish finals. The Belfast lads will be heading to Germany to represent our wee island against 30+ other nations this August in the world final at W.O.A.

Overoth managed to fend off stiff competition from the other finalists Exzeltic, Killface, Zombified, 7DaysDead and Bakken to make it through. Killface ended up winning the audience vote that saw Overoth take second place. However, a unanimous decision from the judges made the final choice.

Previous winners of the competition include Coldwar (2011) and Warpath (2012). Tickets There wishes Overoth the best of luck in the final and congratulations to all the bands who played tonight. Ye were all excellent!

Wacken Metal Battle 2013 Irish Final – This Saturday (Preview)

Posted in Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music, News, Special Features with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 23, 2013 by Tickets There

5599_526581720714060_314297096_n

The time has come; this Saturday six of the country’s best metal bands will compete for a chance to represent Ireland at the world Wacken Metal Battle final! You know what that means? It means one of these bands will travel to Germany and reign holy hell down on the lousy competition other nations see fit to select and Ireland will conquer the world of metal as we know it.

Before all that happens – you, the great unwashed, must pile into The Pint and see these global leaders of the future before they get too big. Six bands, all very well known on the local scene and all well established and road tested – each one with a thirst for blood that would put Romania and Luis Suárez to shame.

[Updated] Stage times have just been announced, can be found below. Before that, let’s have a look at the bands who will be battling (pun intended) on the night in alphabetical order.

BGE609PCMAAurUr7 Days Dead: 7 Days Dead were, in my eyes, the surprise winner of Heat #2 of the finals. They fought off stiff completion from Dead Aeon and Beltbuckle Overdrive to make it through and deservedly so. After just two year’s together the band already sound and play like a tightly functioning unit. Their debut EP, Beyond Within, came out in February this year and displayed real talent and ability to diversify their sound.

Bäkken: Another Belfast band coming down to kick some Celtic arse. Bäkken are a ‘new'(not ‘Nu’) metal band who good for old skool metal tactics (NWOBHM), rather than letting the new stuff interfere too much (basically – no rapping or Chester Bennington impressions). With an album and a lot of expierence already under their belts, Bäkken are a must see for this final.

563925_10151591349393200_641361375_nExzeltic: Born in Dublin, raised by Thrash! Exzeltic are our favourites for this final. Formed in 2007, Exzeltic are still quite a young band and have come a long way over the past year since they last competed in the finals for this festival. They’re older, wiser, more fosued than before and their stage show is armageddon. Expect lashings of tracks from their two demos (Higher Forces and Ground Zero) and hopefully a new tune or two. ‘Agents of Chaos’!!!

Killface: One of the acts we haven’t gotten to review yet, but their reputation speaks for itself. Killface have been synonymous with thrash/death metal for a few years in Dublin now and that standing is only set to grow. They are number 1 on my ‘bands to be drunk for’ list this Saturday and I will do everything in my power to ensure that happens – headbanging y’all.

BGUU97qCMAECQCNOveroth: Now this is a powerhouse of a live band. Overoth are not to be f**ked with; especially since yer making them come all the way down from Belfast (maybe themselves, 7DaysDead, Zombified and Bakken will share a bus – that would be a hangover if ever there was one). Stage presence, performance – everything is nailed down tight by Overoth and the dry ice will ensure enough oxegen leaves your lungs so you get that wonderful euphoric feeling.

Zombified: Second on the list of ‘must be drunk’ bands – Zombified. Grindcore, so a change in pace from the rest of the bands playing on the day and yet another band from the grand auld North. They’ve been around a good long while but really came to full in 2010 when the cemented their current line-up. Let’s hav’ yeah – more fodder for the Zombies!

It all goes down this Saturday, April 27th at the Pint on Eden Quay, Dublin. Entrance is only €5 / Doors are at 7.30 and audience gets to vote; so get in early, avail of the drink promos and enjoy judging some quality Irish metal. There will also be a rock/metal covers band playing after the six competitors are finished – Under An Evil Spell so make a night of it.

STAGE TIMES
21:00 – 21:22 Killface
21:37 – 21:59 Exzeltic
22:14 – 22:36 Overoth
22:51 – 23.13 Bakken
23:28 – 23:50 Zombified
00:05 – 00:27 7 Days Dead

Review: Overoth – Kingdom of Shadows

Posted in Album Review, IRISH NOISE!, Music with tags , , , , on April 12, 2013 by Tickets There

550350592-1Overoth have been kind enough to re-release their debut album, Kingdom of Shadows and being black hearted megalomaniacs, we felt TT should have a say. If you’ve seen Overoth at any time over the past two years since Kingdom of Shadow’s release, you’ll know they are a powerful force to be reckoned with. Lead singer, Andy Ennis cuts an imposing figure on stage and commands a dominant presence; supported by an intensely dense, doom/death metal bellowing backline(I know what backline means, but it suited the moment).

Kingdom of Shadows’ and ‘I Am One, I Am All’ crack the lid on a treasure trove of isolated darkness, carnage and aggression. The title track is fast paced, classic death metal while I Am One, I Am All injects the band’s heavier, doom, sound made stronger by Andy’s reverbing growls. ‘Summon the Cursed’ is flanked by thick echoing riffs that sway with the song before bursts of extremity explode out of nowhere. `The Serpent of Old’ and ‘Led to the Slaughter’ are two of the strongest pieces on the album. Face slapping metal in its finest form. At times the impact is a little muddled, but raw with power and both songs show the ability this band has and boasts potential for their next record.

BGUU97qCMAECQCNPathway to Demise’ and ‘Obsidian Blade’ continue to reinforce the bands power, but offer little in the way of real originality. They pale even further when the show stealing, ‘Upon The Alar’ awakens. A heaving brute of a tune that perfectly captures each band member falling into place, allowing them to deliver the song they’ve hinted at throughout the record. Haunting guitars, sparse echoes and militaristic force. ‘The Forbidden Realm’ builds on the revamped interest Upon The Altar gives in dramatic fashion. While not as forceful, it’s complexity, speed and focus drive the song and the album home.

Kingdom of Shadows may not have the most life changing songs in its ranks, but it does an excellent job at relaying the bands live sound and brute strength. At the same time it manages to drop a few regulars into your playlist and build anticipation for Overoth’s next release. If Kingdom of Shadows is anything to go by, Overoth will be a death metal household name in no time.

Wacken Metal Battle: Semi Final II Results

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on March 27, 2013 by Tickets There

BGUU97qCMAECQCNThe second semi-final of the Irish Wacken Metal Battle took place in the Pint on Saturday night and a fairly epic night it was with controversy, a packed house and a heap of metal to enjoy. In the end, Overoth, Bäkken and 7DaysDead rose to the challenge and carry on to the final, bidding Beltbuckle Overdrive (who came first in the audience vote, but were knocked out with the judges tally…..Tickets There may or may not have been judging this one J), September Cross and Dead Aeon goodbye for this year.

BGFINf5CIAAdZA-The winners will join Exzeltic, Zombified and Killface for the final which takes place on April 27th @ The Pint, Eden Quay, Dublin. Tickets There will be running features on each band before th27th so keep an eye out.
