Happy Birthday CLUB CARNAGE – CARNAGE FEST Tonight & Tomorrow

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 4, 2014 by Tickets There

10472735_684423284957664_9086308779290459620_nThe site of countless drunken shenanigans, encounters, shots, bottles, buckie and lunacy – Club Carnage turns three today and they’re celebrating in style.

Carnage Fest is a two day event that’ll celebrate the club’s third successful year in operation and the fact that it has become the premier club night for metal fans in the capital. For three year’s they’ve promoted local bands, DJ’s, performers and provided a regular, low price, high craic night for metal fans to meet each other. Despite low turnouts from time to time, cancelations on the bill and general lack of funds these days – Carnage has remained constant and always given punters a good solid night for their buck.

Tonight’s show will be headlined by the mighty Dichotomy with Vile Regression, Dead Aeon and Visions of Apophis providing support on the upstairs stage. Meanwhile industrial fans can head to the cellar for full on DJ sessions and general urban terror dealings. Tomorrow’s show will take place upstairs and will feature sets from Motorheaders, S.F.U., Grande Royale, Devolted.

Venue is Fibber MaGees (or Fibbers if you’re inclined) and admission will be €6 each night. Usual drink promos and deals will apply. More details are available on the links below.

Happy Birthday guys and congratulations on reach three years!

*UPDATED: GAMA BOMB TO MAKE DUBLIN RETURN

Posted in Gig Listing, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on January 2, 2014 by Tickets There

1012242_10152100201687435_1702815403_nCan you believe it? Dublin, we’re in for another night of GAMA BOMB! Anyone who attended the mighty UnLeashed Festival at Fibber MaGee’s last August will remember the incredible performance put on by the GB and they’re coming again for round 2 of the Terror Tapes Tour.

E.H.T. are again promoting the night which is happening on March 7th upstairs in Fibbers (Venue changes from Voodoo Lounge to Fibbers). Entry is €5 and support will include Psykosis, Dead Label, AeSect, Hollow Truth and Katabolisis. Exactly! what sort of a total f***tard would you have to be to miss this show? Probably as bad as Tickets There when we missed the Season’s Beatings show last month. Anyways…

March 7th – carve it into the arm and make sure it doesn’t heal before the night. See you there!

Red Enemy Play Fibber MaGees This Friday

1005240_10201384708567137_946280632_nRed Enemy seem to be a little bored of hanging around for their debut album these days. In order to combat it, they’ve put together one very tasty line-up in Fibber MaGee’s this Friday. Aside from themselves, their show will feature Two Tales of Woe (I thought they split up years ago?), Vile Regression, Hollow Truth and Leatspiders. That’s this Friday, upstairs in Fibbers. The price? Well Red Enemy want to see bodies packed in for a good time so they’re going with a ‘pay what you feel’ policy. So thrown in a couple of euro or a tenner, your choice.

Remember, bands and promoters who put on these free shows generally do it at a loss. If you want to see local talent going up the ranks then don’t be a cheap skate. For five bands throw in a tenner sher. it’s worth it and you get a full night of entertainment and free drinks. What more could you ask for?

Well, old TT didn’t make their headlining slot at The Unleashed Fesatival this weekend (damn you Buckfast and wallet!), but we were able to catch Overoth’s Wacken Warm Up show in Fibbers back on July 26th and our desperate need for attention means we have to post something. Here’s a few very…..[honest]… unique pics from the night, plus a video and a snap taken of them live at Wacken (latter is not from TT). This was a great night out!

Two years ago, one of the funnest (it’s a word – I added it to the Word dictionary) metal nights in Dublin was born – CLUB CARNAGE making today their birthday. Happy Birthday guys

The club is celebrating in style with a wicked line-up of bands in Fibbers tonight. CHAOS A.D. (Sepultura tribte) will headline a bill that also features Xenocide, BeltBuckle Overdrive, Atominated and Snowblind. No word on tickets but Carnage is always dead cheap or free so just go and you’ll be happy out. Doors are @9pm – Fibber MaGees, Dublin.

Oh, Chaos A.D. are labelled ‘Old school Sepultura’, so you won’t have any of that Derrick Green nonsense to worry about.

Review: AeSect – Beneath the Undergrowth (EP Review)

Posted in EP Review, IRISH NOISE!, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , on April 18, 2013 by Tickets There

859600_428315560582677_1051748068_oAfter seeing AeSect shake Fibbers up last week, TT decided it was high time we checked out their debut EP, Beneath the Undergrowth; which has just been released as a free download. With five tracks and high expectations, it’s time for metal!

Opening tune, ‘Baal’ is a very strong start. Bruising heaviness mixed with metal/hardcore vocals; the band immediately set a high bar for themselves and the EP. ‘Snipe the Lamb’ continues the assault with extreme speed and pounding aggression. At times the vocals impose themselves a little too strongly but a crackin’ tune none the less. The title track is next and there’s a little drop in the impact. The song seems too disjointed, too sparse to really hammer the point home.

The opening riff to ‘Bite the Curb’  seems to bring the EP back on course, until you spend one minute being yelled at to ‘Bitteee the Cuuurb Bhoyy, just bite the f**king curb’. Don’t get me wrong, it brings back American History X memories and all, which is always….. fun; but again this song lets itself-down and seems to drag out and slow the enjoyment. ‘The God Delusion’ is last up and kicks off with yet another sweet intro; something AeSect are clearly amazing at. Mostly the song is strong but dragged out choruses and unsettlingly mediocre lyrics again cast a shadow.

There are some insanely good moments on this release, but on the second half they are overshadowed with some major weak points. Musically and the lyrically the last three songs could all do with improvements before going on to a full length album. The opening two songs and the band’s live performance show undeniable talent and skill. AeSect just need to ensure they get that across on their recordings.

Kildare’s noiesest three piece, Dead Label, have just released a new video for their tune, ‘Are You Ready to Kill?’. Check it out below (and remember – Dead Label play Fibber’s this Saturday, April 13th with Warpath, Psykosis, Edenfire and 14 more.

Review: Psykosis / Exzeltic / Edenfire @ Club Carnage – Fibber MaGee’s (April 5th, 2013)

Posted in Gig Review, IRISH NOISE!, Music with tags , , , , , , , , on April 8, 2013 by Tickets There

20130408-005012.jpgMetal fans living in Dublin, drinking anywhere but Fibbers tonight are losing out (broke, sick, murderous fans excused), because when you get three bands like Psykosis, Exzeltic and Edenfire playing the same night together, it’s not something to skip. Club Carnage may not be the most packed venue of all time, but there’s a good strong crowd in to hear some of the best thrash metal Dublin has to offer. A night made even sweeter by cheap entry, cheap booze and more than enough room to mosh the Buckfast away \,,/

562339_10151591375713200_595606017_nEdenfire are just getting warmed up when TT reaches the venue. Only the second group on and already there’s an impressive crowd gathered around the front of the stage. The band sound strong, playing tracks from their debut EP and displaying skills that only come from the vast number of shows Edenfire have been playing over the last two years. Getting better with each performance and definitely ones to watch over the next year.

5958_10151591349468200_209870050_nEver since seeing this next band sweep through last year’s Wacken Metal Final semi finals; Tickets There has loved Exzeltic. In fact I’d find it hard to understand anyone who likes thrash metal not liking them. Adam, Connor, Neil and ‘Giller’ are four of the most talented, energetic and ferocious musicians on the scene today. With a small arsenal of songs at their disposal, Exzeltic has masterfully wielded their tracks into merciless destroyers. Extended solos played with extreme precision and unrelenting riffs pack their unfortunately short set with more power than you’re likely to see from any of the greats. Their bruising ‘Agents of Chaos’ and cover of Megadeth’s ‘Hanger 18 finish the night in epic style. Exzeltic are a new band with a lot to offer. Now we just wait until they’re ready for a full blown release. However tonight belongs to headliners Psykosis and they’re ready to light this place up.

482758_10151591349158200_1034823677_nI’ll be blunt – Psykosis are so good live its borderline ridiculous. This is the third or fourth time I’ve been able to catch them and each show sets the bar a little higher. They trump their excellent support bands in terms of performance, catalogue and skill together. Each song is delivered with flawless style and gut punching brutality. Yet the band still maintain and extremely relaxed, fun approach and are able to put on a stellar show without it seeming a challenge or like they’re going through the motions. Band interaction between songs and their best known hits saved till last (‘Toxic Fugitive’ and ‘Terror at 3am’!) complete a night of unbeatable metal.

543992_10151591348978200_1066333988_nWhat we got here…is some of the finest talent the Irish metal world has to offer; in the prime of their early days together. When these bands start releasing albums and touring extensively – there will be no stopping them. Anyone who like their Overkill, Megadeth, Slayer…etc, needs to get their asses down to the Pint, to Fibbers and anywhere else they play and support these bands before we lose them to the continent or the States. One incredible night from all involved.

64737_10151508083528200_2010890939_n(If this was a review I’d start by saying…): Tickets There is in no shape to write a review about tonight. 6 hours on whiskey warmups haven’t left much of a vocabulary to describe the outstanding power of Warpath. 17 songs of chaos and destruction fuelled by hours if excessive drinking, moshing and head banging – it was a WARPARTY in every sense of the word.

The originals of these pics weren’t quite as insanely clear and professional as I’d hoped; that sort of quality demand the photographer being able to stand up right. So, myself and Instagram have made these as butcheristic, dark and brutal as humanly possible.
