This is actually breaking news…. honest..

893030_572580812810655_1783382037_oThe legendary OVERKILL are coming to Dublin this year to play what we believe (correct if needed) to be their very first show on Irish soil.

They’re set to take over the Academy on March 15th to deliver a night of new material (which is awesome) and classics (which are also awesome) and bring some tasty support in the form of Xentrix and Skeletonwitch. Tickets on sale now from Ticketmaster priced €26.50 inc fees.

For all the latest, keep an eye on the Event Page.

EVILE Button Factory Show Postponed

The uber cheap, ultra sweet EVILE show at the Button Factory has been regrettably postponed. The band have had to push out all their up and coming UK and Irish shows. No new date has been announced yet but keep an eye on Dublin Metal Events and Tickets There (I’d go with D.M.E.) for news on the new date. Statement from the band below,

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond control we unfortunately have to postpone our upcoming shows in September across the UK & Ireland. We apologise sincerely to everyone who was planning to attend. The shows aren’t being cancelled outright, they will be happening sometime next year so all tickets will still be valid at the same value when the shows have found new dates.

In 14 years of playing shows we have only purposefully cancelled two shows, broken down on the way to four, and missed another two because of delayed flights, which isn’t a bad record for all the years we’ve been playing so postponing these September shows isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly.

When we have new dates for the shows in 2014 we will announce them, as mentioned previously all tickets will still be valid. Again, we apologise for the postponement”.”Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond control we unfortunately have to postpone our upcoming shows in september across the UK & Ireland. DUBLIN METAL EVENTS ANNOUNCEMENT COMING TOMORROW

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music with tags , , , , on June 14, 2013 by Tickets There

DMEIt’s one of those nights again. The great purveyors of all things metal (and oddly enough – Big Country) in Dublin have an announcement coming and the ritual of ‘can you guess what it is yet?’ has started. I always love these waits because you’re pretty much 100% guaranteed you won’t be disappointed. Although you almost always won’t get what you guess, at least you know it won’t be One Direction.

MCD, Aiken, POD and others all do similar things, albeit a little less often, and it’s never the same. When they say ‘Big rock announcement coming tomorrow!’; you can almost lay money out that it’s The Kings of Leon or The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (with Bon Jovi quickly moving up that list’. When a massive festival is being announced it’s going to contain the exact same ‘adult contemporary’ snooze fest or musically devoid dance / pop (Electric Picnic & Oxegen 2013). I’m not slagging off those companies (MCD – 2 of the best Slayer gigs I’ve ever seen and almost every arena gig I’ve ever been to, Aiken – you give me The Boss almost annually and POD – Just for Crawdaddy alone where Jape, Reckless Love, Wired Desire and many more have been some of the best shows I’ve ever been to); but large companies like them have to supply to the masses and despite the leather jackets and studs back on Grafton street – metal is not ‘so hot right now’.

So thank you D.M.E. I don’t care if tomorrow’s announcement is not Motorhead, Cannibal Corpse or Amon Amarth. Just so long as it’s not Kings of Leon or The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Dublin Metal Events: Upcoming 2012 Shows

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 9, 2012 by Tickets There

Dublin Metal Events have been busy as hell this year with 13 shows book between now and April, and they ain’t finish yet. The savagely cruel head honcho ‘H’ has promised a pretty tasty announcement for tomorrow after an earlier promise led to the announcement that W.A.S.P. will be returning to Dublin as part of their 30th anniversary tour.

Before that, there’s several other acts that will please all the hairy  leather ‘n’ denim brigade out there.  Few notes added to the ones Tickets There recommends if you’re looking to try something new. All dates available on the D.M.E. Events Page on Facebook.

Alestorm – 12/02/12 – The Pint
Krisiun + Malevolent Creation + Vital Remains – 14/02/12 – The Pint
The Devil’s Blood – 18/02/12 – The Pint
Alcest – 19/02/11 – The Pint

Fleshgod Apocalypse – 09/03/12 – The Pint
Stand Up And Shout – A Ronnie James Dio Tribute – 10/03/12 – Button Factory

  • Tribute night to the late great Ronnie James \,,/DIO\,,/. Seattle’s premier DIO tribute band will come and do their best at reminding you why we all miss the little fella so much. The disappointment from Heaven & Hell’s Iron Maiden support still runs deep; maybe this will go a little towards reconciliation. RIPDIO

Amon Amarth – 15/03/12 – Vicar St

  • Perhaps the only time it is ok for Vikings to return to Ireland. Amon Amarth will be bringing their Swedish rage to Vicar Street with DME promising us their full stage show is coming along for the rise. Heyyy hoooo – Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding!

Suffocation – 16/03/12 – The Pint

 Exhumed – 21/03/12 – The Pint

  • You take a little Death metal, a sprinkling of hardcore, some more death metal and the beatings of a thousand soldiers and you’ve got Exhumed. Now, despite some fans objections to the band becoming a lot more radio friendly and being play listed on a lot of morning and drive time shows, Tickets There thinks these guys do still credit their roots. Just because Ray Darcy likes them doesn’t mean you don’t have to!…..Tickets There will not be attending this show in case Matt Harvey tears TT’s head off.

April – Dec 2012

Obscura – 02/04/11 – The Pint
Absu + Impiety – 11/04/12 – The Pint
Orange Goblin – 20/04/12 – The Pint

  • You’ve got to ask yourself, ‘what else would ya be doing?’ Organge Goblin in town and you’re sitting at home with a tin, jacking off to Cristina Scabbia? Dude, get out of the house more and rock out to Rage of Angels, Blue Snow and  The Ballad of Solomon Eagle!!

Mael Mordha & Darkest Era – 27/04/12 – The Pint
W.A.S.P. – 25/09/12 – Vicar St

  • Tickets There we stupid enough to wait until 2010 to really get into the W.A.S.P. buzz but their show at The Academy was enough to seal us in as life time fans. The news that they’re coming back deserves a little post all of it’s own…..which it has….right …. HERE

That’s right folks, Blackie Lawless and the boys are hitting Dublin tomorrow night for the second time in less than a year. The boys are still touring their 2009 album Babylon but there’s plenty of older hits in there like On Your Knees, L.O.V.E. Machine, Chainsaw Charlie and many more to keep all fans happy.

Gig’s happening in the Academy and if the crowd at Exodus last week is anything to go by, then recession or no recession: this show will be packed.
