47396Would you look at that! TT was so wrapped up in their bullsh*t to even notice Airbourne have gone and schedule a show at Dublin’s Academy on October 22nd.  The dirty rockers are plugging their new album, Black Dog Barking which came out back in May. Haven’t seen them before but it should be a great gig. According to the article I’m currently reading / stealing from, they’re well worth checking out.. so that’s good.

For this writer, I’ll be happy so long as they play ‘Runnin’ Wild’! Tickets for their show are on sale from today priced 25 quid.

DEATH DTA Announce Dublin date!!!

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , on August 22, 2013 by Tickets There

1174930_522122574523146_1925663179_nHold onto your excited caps, legendary death metallers and widely renowned inventors of the genre, DEATH, have announced a European tour and Dublin is bang smack in the middle!

The band, thrilled with the success of their recent North American DTA tour, have decided to come and visit Europe and give fans the DEATH experience they’ve craved for so long. This show will feature most of the HUMAN line-up era and they’ll mostly be playing tracks from that album, as well as other DEATH classics.

This all takes place November 27th @ The Academy. Tickets on sale next Friday, Aug 30th for €27.50

Thank you very much D.M.E. This is a very special one!

DEATH – the legend lives on!!!

In 1998, “The sound of perseverance” – the very last studio album of progressive death metal icons DEATH from Florida – saw the light of day, and in 2001 their charismatic band leader, guitar god and sound pioneer Chuck Schuldiner tragically passed away. Many years later, the towering monolith of Chuck`s and DEATH`s testimony hasn`t even faintly started to crumble, and cult albums such as “Leprosy” (1988) or “Symbolic” (1995) remain untouchable!

Whilst older generations have their (live) memories to treasure, there`s a big bunch of younger death metal freaks who could get in touch with DEATH only via DVD or Youtube – and it`s about time we changed this! Earlier this year, the “DTA” tribute tour excited thousands of American fans, and in November 2013 this awesome trek will finally make it to Europe…

The DEATH line up consists of “Human” legends Sean Reinert (drums), Paul Masvidal (guitars) and Steve DiGiorgio (bass). Max Phelps – some of you will have seen him performing live with CYNIC – will step in Chuck`s footsteps. This amazing tribute line up will perform songs from every DEATH era!

REPORT: Slayer – Live @ The Academy, Dublin (June 11th, 2013)

Posted in Gig Review, Music with tags , , , , , , , on June 13, 2013 by Tickets There

IMG_5078Going to see Slayer two nights in a row – one of the best decisions this writer has ever made. For the second night in a row, SLAYER raised the roof off Dublin’s Academy with what seemed like even more power and ferocity than Monday’s show (quite a feat considering the incredible performance they put on last night). There was even more banter from Tom Araya with him even (tongue in cheek) asking the crowd if there were ‘any requests?’, before he politely listened and remembered ‘we don’t do that’.

IMG_5072The set-list also saw a few changes with ‘Hallowed Point, At Dawn They Sleep, Stain of Mind, The Antichrist, Payback’ and ‘Hell Awaits’ all being dropped and replaced by ’Spirit In Blood, Die By The Sword, Postmortem, Altar of Sacrifice, Jesus Saves’ and ‘Ghosts of War’ which gave the night a fresh feeling, rather than just rehashing the same show as the night before.

Rather than go through a detailed review (again), heres what ye all want. Photos, set lists and videos – enjoy J.

Dave Lombardo Officially Out of Slayer

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 31, 2013 by Tickets There

slayer_dave

The news we were all dreading and expecting has arrived. Dave Lombardo is officially out of SLAYER…. Again. Slayer confirmed the news last night and named Paul Bostaph as their new drummer. That’s right, it’s 1992 again.

Paul took over the sticks from Dave 19 years ago when the band had their last major falling out drummed with them on Divine Intervention, Undisputed Attitude, Diabolus In Musica and God Hates Us All before leaving due to an elbow injury which lead to a reconciliation between the band and Dave.

Dave has been absent from the band this time since February when apparent monetary disagreements left Dave out of an Australian tour. The confirmation that he is fully out will add more sadness to Slayer fans after losing founding member and legend, Jeff Hanneman earlier this month. Hopes were high that Jeff’s passing might help the lads see what’s really important and reunite as a band. Unfortunately this is not the case. Their touring line-up for 2013 will be completed by Gary Holt from Exodus filling in for Jeff.

Slayer play Dublin’s Academy on June 10th and 11th before playing Belfast on June 12. All three dates are sold out.

The Doors Alive Return To The Academy

Posted in Music with tags , , , on September 7, 2012 by Tickets There

Tickets There wouldn’t normally be ones for tribute bands, but then again The Doors Alive are not your average cover act. We were fortunate enough to catch one of their packed midnight shows at the Academy a few years back and instantly became fans.

For those that weren’t alive (no pun intended) when the Doors were going, this is the closest you’ll ever get. All members invoke the spirit of the Doors music and relay that through their performance. You won’t catch them delivering note perfect renditions of the albums but instead they relay the sounds and experience of a genuine Doors show from the late sixties. There are no cheap gimmicks and Mr. Morrison manages to keep things in his trousers! What you get is a couple of hours of brilliant Doors classics for an excellent band.

Not to be missed – September 14th @ The Academy. Stage time (looks like) 8pm and it’ll only you cost you €15.

Sepultura Announce 2012 Dublin Return

Posted in Gig Listing, Music with tags , , , on June 7, 2012 by Tickets There

Good news for metal fans! After a stellar sold-out show at the Academy in 2010, Sepultura have announced their Irish return.  The Brazilin thrash metal icons will take the stage of The Academy on August 11th. .

Sepultura are a phenomenon. For over twenty five years, the band from Brazil has been delivering a brutal mix of metal, hardcore, thrash, punk and tribal that could hardly be more intense or more passionate. What had begun in Belo Horizonte in 1984 soon turned into a metal hurricane of threatening proportions and has taken on undreamt-of dimensions since the enlistment of American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998. You have to experience this band live on stage to understand the fascination that this South-American act holds. And Sepultura’s current songs always indicate the future of heavy metal.

Tickets for Sepultura live at The Academy on 11th August are priced €25 including booking fee and go on sale on Friday 8th June.

Review: ASH – Live @ The Academy, Dublin (Oct. 18th 2011)

Posted in Gig Review, IRISH NOISE!, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 19, 2011 by Tickets There

Just four months after they tore Whelan’s apart, ASH are back and this time they’ve got an old friend with them. Back in August, fans around the world rejoiced at the news that legendary fourth member; Charlotte Hatherley was joining the band for a one off U.K. & IRE tour to mark the tenth anniversary of their career defining album, Free All Angels. Charlotte amicably parted ways with the group in early 2006 to pursue a successful solo career and the group have carried on as trio ever since, but have on occasion called on the services of Bloc Party’s Russel Lissack for live performances. While Charlotte’s return may only be temporary, fans of the band will agree the group were at their live best with her in the line-up. She adds a quiet coolness, delicate character and shredding guitar to their sound and don’t even mention the harmonies – too good. With drummer Rick McMurray also present and correct after a short absence, the scene is set for the most memorable ASH gig of the last decade.

The night kicks off early with support acts Tieranniesaur and The Future but, no offence to them, there’s only one band people want to see tonight. As the lights go dark, dramatic music and NASA launch commands boom over the PA, ASH take the stage and the crowd explode with excitement. Seeing the four members back together is a dream come to life for those in attendance (and yours truly of course). Obviously delighted with the response, the band immediately delves into Free All Angels and kick off proceedings with Walking Barefoot, followed by Shinning Light and a jaw dropping performance of Burn Baby Burn. Right off the bat it’s clear that the time apart hasn’t hampered the group’s ability to perfectly fuse together and deliver these songs as they should sound. Charlotte’s overwhelming charm hasn’t diminished in any way shape or form since her departure and she still rocks like a motherf**ker on stage. Tim spends the first half of the set competing with the crowd to be heard as every word of every song is sung back to him. Mark and Rick just perfectly round off one of the hardest rockin’ bands this country has ever produced.

Tim pauses for a moment to thank everyone in attendance, ‘re-introduce’ Charlotte and highlight that now the band are about to play songs they haven’t performed in nearly ten years before kicking into Candy, Cherry Bomb, the Rick Mc Murray composed Submission and Someday with the songs sounding as fresh as they did in 2001. As the album continues, Sometimes and There’s A Star shine through with the incredible World Domination rounding off the set. Despite this being the first ever full performance of the record, the band don’t miss a beat and in itself delivered a quality show. But wait, there’s more!. Tim thanks the crowd who are still screaming with delight and announces the band will return in a few minutes to play another full set which sees the audience leap with astonishment and delight.

The band return quickly and fire off with Projects from Nu-Clear Sounds (the band’s first album with Charlotte) before continuing their assault with A Life Less Ordinary (earth shatteringly amazing performance), Star Crossed and Orpheus from the Meltdown album and the classic Wildsurf. There’s also a special performance of Warmer Than Fire which Tim reminisces used to be a set standard in the Free All Angels days before they close off their main set with the rallying Oh Yeah.

Returning to the stage, the band introduce two time Irish air guitar champion Deku Chan for one of the nights stand out performances, Lose Control. Kung Fu Follows sending the mosh pit into chaos and the night is closed with the triumphant Girl From Mars. With that, the band hit their curfew and take a well deserved bow before leaving the stage.

This was without a doubt the greatest ASH performance many have ever seen and it delivered everything any fan could have ever hoped for. Whether Charlotte’s return to the group turns into a permanent situation or not remains to be seen, but for now the group look and sound the best they ever have and this tour is just another reminder of why we love them so much. Fans in the U.K. – prepare to be amazed!

ASH Announce special ‘Free All Angles’ Dublin Show (Wow, talk about being behind – but we’re catching up).

Posted in Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , on September 20, 2011 by Tickets There

Well Tickets There has been very quiet for the past three months, but if anything can bring us out of semi-retirement, it’s the wonderful ASH. How did they do it you ask (unless you have the internet and already know about this story because other, far more reliable steady sites have reported it weeks ago), well it’s simple! ASH, live in Dublin, playing the Free All Angles album in its entirety (plus a few others) with the wonderfully lovely Charlotte Hatherley back in the line-up. Maybe we should start from the beginning, ya haven’t got all day!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their classic ‘Free All Angles’ album, Ash have announced a series of special IRE/U.K. shows which take place this October and will see the band playing the album in its entirety with former guitarist Charlotte Hatherley re-joining the band to make the shows as special as you can get.

It all takes place at Dublin’s Academy venue on October 18th with tickets priced €20 plus booking fee. They’re on sale now and honestly, unless you have an amazingly valid excuse – Tickets There will think less of you for not attending this show. (thank you MCD and ASH!)
