Updated: Def Leppard Cancel 3rd Leg of Tour

Def Leppard have cancelled the planned 3rd leg of their tour for unknown reasons/ The legendary Sheffield rockers have cancelled 23 dates that were due to start next Thursday in Reno, Nevada.

The reasons haven’t been made clear but a short statement was released on Defleppard.com yesterday,

Due to unforeseen personal matters, the third leg of Def Leppard’s North American Tour, set to begin on October 22nd, has been cancelled. “We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans,” said the band in a statement. “That’s why we’ve agonized over this decision. Even if just a single concert, we don’t take cancelling shows lightly, but unfortunately life’s commitments need to be the priority.

Tickets There will keep you updated and we hope all is well in the Leppard camp.

091017 – Updated:

The latest rumour on the net points to low Tickets Sales as the cause for the groups cancellation. Man Raze haven’t been affected in the UK and no word of a family emergency has been released yet. We’ll keep you updated.

091027 – Updated:

Still no confirmed reason why these dates were cancelled. the low ticket sales rumour is still being speculated along with various reports about the band breaking up, members going into rehab and several other unsupported stories. Tickets There doesn’t promote any of these claims because more than likely, they’re total nonsense.

Tickets There – Saturday Music Quiz

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , on October 17, 2009 by Tickets There

Due to phenomenal demand, I’ve decided to create a much easier quiz as a follow up to yesterdays that you all loved so well. However, heed my warning. This quiz isn’t all fun and games, oh no! It’s a mind bendingly difficult little slice of musical penetration. Possibly the second hardest quiz in the world…after my first one.

Only Eyes: Can you name this rock star using only this small, hard to see image of their eyes?

alicecooper

Hats off!: Name the owner of this destructive and ‘illusioned’ and Velvet hat (if you please)?

slash

Oh yes, Tickets There fooled you all. This quiz is much, much harder than my previous one. Once again Tickets There claims victory!!

The man on the left is former U.S. president, Richard Nixon. Who is the man on the right?

elvis

Mask Attack: Name this famous King of Pop who is cleverly disguised?

michaeljackson

Irish Bonus Round: Name all four singers from this Eyebrowy sketch?

eyebrowy-electric_picnic

Well, Well, Well. Once again Tickets There got ya. Spent the evening watching Vince Vaughn’s latest movie (with an introduction from the man himself in Dublin’s Savoy) so please forgive the complete lack of humour.

Tickets There – Friday Music Quiz

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , on October 16, 2009 by Tickets There

Welcome to the Tickets There Friday music Quiz. A few feature that challenges the mind as well as your musical knowledge. This is no ordinary quiz let me warn you. The questions are so difficult, so furiously, unimaginably and notoriously hard no priest, storm trooper or search engine (no matter how advanced) can help you. Good luck!

  1. 1.       Only Eyes: Name this rock star using only this small, hard to see image of their eyes.

gene_simmons_narrowweb__300x453,0Bet you’re not happy now you started this. Bet you’re feeling pretty small right about now. Has the panic set in yet? Has the stress started to consume every emotion in your soul? Do you feel as intellectually impotent as a bull frog?? I’m sorry, but Tickets There’s quizzes are of the highest standard,. We stretch across the world in our quiz to challenge every electro that passes through your brain.

  1. 2.       Tricky, Tricky:

The band below used to have an appetite for destruction. Now, the singer is campaigning for democracy in Chine in his own special way. Name this band.

guns_n_roses

  1. 3.       Difficult galore:

Ok, looks like you’re having trouble and Tickets There doesn’t want to shame you so badly. Who are we to sit on our high chairs and mock unsuspecting fans that scratch their heads and spit fury on the day they ever found this quiz. This time, just this one mind you, we’ll add multiple choices so you don’t feel as down trodden and removed from the higher classes of the musical elite.

This Dylan’s first name is Robert, can you guess his stage name?

BobDylanLP

  1. 4.       The clincher:

Who is this? No names, I’m making this as hard as possible.

beatles

I’m, very sorry you had to go through that but I hope you know now that life isn’t all fun and games. No sir, sometimes, a quiz like this can pop up and take the wind out of your sails. Doctors recommend having a coffee, a small break or a brisk walk to try and recover from this sort of academic challenge. Those doctors never came across a challenge like the one you just undertook. Tickets There recommends you do all three aswell as calling in sick to work (take the Friday to yourself to recuperate), slip going out this weekend and don’t try and bone up one your musical knowledge just yet. Your system won’t be able to handle anymore for at least 24/48 hours.

For those of you who cheap, the answers are below.

Answers,

1: Gene Simmons (KISS), 2: Guns N Roses, 3: Bob Dylan, 4: The Beatles

Hard Working Class Heroes 09

Posted in IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , on October 16, 2009 by Tickets There

HWCH09

It’s October, Halloween is close and the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival returns to the streets of Dublin. For a mere forty odd Euro, you’ll have access to 100 bands in six of Dublin’s finest venues over the next three days (or you can buy much cheaper tickets if you can only handle one day of the festivities). There’s also street exhibits, art and photography exhibitions and loads, loads more joy n craic going on. The atmosphere should be great craic around the town. As for the bands themselves? Well, let’s see what Tickets There recommends.

Please keep in mind that Tickets There’s talent doesn’t affords us the luxury of spending all day listening to music so I won’t be recommending zillions of bands, just the handful of extremely talented ones I’ve had the good fortune to find.

Friday, 16th October

20:40 – 21:10: The Brothers Movement – The Button factory
22:45 – 23:10 – Talulah Does the Hula (meant to be good)
23:30 – 00:00 – Neosupervital – Twisted Pepper

Saturday, 17th October

19:10 – 19:40: Ollie Cole – The Button Factory
20:15 – 20:45: Kill Krinkle Club (Go and see for yourself just how obnoxiously shite this band are. Very, very funny to watch their fans get into it. You can play nasty, snide little games and pass remarks. Always good fun)
20:55 – 21:25: C!ties – Twisted Pepper
22:30 – 23:00: Sweet Jane – Andrews’s lane
23:15 – 00:00: Adebisi Shank – Andrews Lane

Sunday, 18th October

22:50 – 21:20 – Fiona Melady– Button Factory
21:30 – 22:00: The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra – The Button Factory
22:10 – 22:40: SOUNDS OF SYSTEM BREAKDOWN – Twisted Pepper
22:55 – 23:30 – Ham Sandwich – The Button Factory

Believe it or not, that’s it. And two of the bands should even really be there. I’m afraid very few of Tickets There’s  choices for this country’s leading acts will be on show. Anyways people, relax, check out the official HWCH festival page for more details and the full schedule.

To see a full list of the band playing, venues involved and all the other guff, check out the HWCH Homepage (it’s working now :))

With the film, book, theme park, customized coffin, coffee table and endorsed prescription painkillers and every single other money making venture the Jackson family can think off during their bereavement, it’s good to see some actual music coming out.

One of Michael’s last recordings is now available to hear for free on the late singers official website. Click the link below to hear it in full. It’s a nice number. Nothing electrifying but MJ sounds great.

Concerto For Constantine – New Website almost There

Posted in IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , on October 11, 2009 by Tickets There

concert

Things seem to be moving along for Concerto for Constantine’s new website. It’s been added to Wikipedia and the address is showing up on search engines. Also, when you open the site the images are coming through so it looks like any day now we’ll see an announcement (hopefully)

I see a lot of people searching for ‘Concerto for Constantine Album’ and Concerto for Constantine ep’ Just to let you folks know, there is still no official word from the group on this subject. There have been rumours of the band recording material in Canada and Dublin but nothing confirmed. However Tickets There does have a feeling the band has something very special up their sleeve and we’re positive we’ll find out more soon.

Until I know more, have a good night.

Ozzy in Dublin

The original plan for the day was to get up early, head straight into town. Meet Ozzy Osbourne, go for early morning pints in a darkened smelly rat hole and relocate to the Stephens Green shopping centre and do it all again. Unfortunately, smoke n broke-ness got  in the way.

Eventually the decision was made to extinguish the MJ, get dressed and head in at half two. The queue was long but moved quickly and by half four, Tickets There had meet the Prince of Darkness, gotten his autograph and ordered our first pint of the day.

Anyone else get in?

Hard Working Class Heroes 09 – MySpace Reviews Coming!!

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, News with tags , , , on October 9, 2009 by Tickets There

Tickets There is getting ready to return to some Irish music folks. After the Megadeth and KISS bonanzas, we feel it’s time to get back to our roots and bring you some of the best….and a lot of the worst music Ireland has to offer.

Our plan is simple. Rather than searching for bands on MySpace to review, we’re going to do a review of every single band playing the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival this year (excluding the ones we’ve already done).

We were hoping to start ages ago but ya know, KISS!. So we’ll be starting tonight and we’ll bring you a minimum of one MySpace review a day. Forget all that nonsense of starting to be nicer, if the bands are shit, we’ll fucking say it (and yes, the list will be returning Shaun J)

So stay tuned later tonight for the first of many, many new MySpace Reviews!!

All the best,
Tickets There

KISS – Sonic Boom (Album Review)

Posted in Album Review, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 8, 2009 by Tickets There

kiss-sonic-boom

Alright Tickets There readers. You wanted the best!….but there was a problem with their website so you came here!

Sonic Boom is here folks. KISS, the hottest band in the world have finally released their first album of new material in eleven years. That’s almost as long as Chinese Democracy!!. So, after all the hype, all the arguments and praise. After all the promotion, fanaticism and general shouting, what does Tickets There think of it?? Well, it’s a grower and it’s still growing!!

Kicking things off is the monster riff filled…ehm, monster, Modern Day Delilah, the albums flagship single and one of the heaviest tracks on the record. There’s almost nothing here but the band showing off their talents on the highest possible level. Everything about this song is savage and I think it’s settled into the hearts of KISS fans around the world. Off course everyone will need to see it in action for it to become a regular on the live circuit but musically, it’s got the goods. At first glance, second track Russian Roulette sounds a little Swiss. Gene’s voice isn’t as ferocious as fans would be used to and the bass sounds like it could have been notched up a little and made dirtier. The chorus, well it just sounds a little Nickelback or something. After a few goes it starts to warm up a little and you become more comfortable with it. Not the strongest song on the record and one that may be forgotten further down the line.

Never Enough see’s classic KISS galore back in the frame. Paul shouts his classic ‘Oh Yeah!’ (Which is always a sign of fun things to come’). Dirty, sleazy, bluesy and a sing along chorus. Never Enough is a good solid rock track and Paul’s voice sounds terrific, great solo aswell. Yes I Know (Nobody’s Perfect) has one of those definitive KISS intro’s. Blues rock mixed with the ‘danger’ we all love. Gene takes the mike back again and this time he shows us exactly why we love him. This is classic KISS with a basic message of ‘take off your cloths!’. It’s poppy, fun and Klassic KISS (see what I did? I replaced the C in Classic with K. What, not funny now because I pointed it out? Fair enough). Stand is an odd one. Not really sure if we’re meant to like this one but there’s no denying it’s catchy as hell and full on balls to the wall arena rock! Stanley and Simmons trade of vocals and it works perfectly. Bit dramatic, bit Swiss but damn it this is KISS! Swiss rhymes with their name so they can do whatever the hell they like. Personally, I think this is a deadly track!

Hot and Cold is another of Gene’s tracks and it’s another perfect rock n roll KISS anthem. ‘if it’s too hot, you’re too cold and if it’s too loud, you’re too old!’ What more can I say? Great solo again, classic Paul rhythm and Gene, a Gene, we forgive you for Russian Roulette. Anyone who can say ‘baby feel my tower of power’ is a legend and you can’t get more black and white that that.

All For the Glory is next and it’s sung by Peter Criss replacement, Eric Singer. What’s it like? Different, Eric’s vocals are top notch and the music is spot on. Classic KISS music given a fresh coat of paint with Eric leading the way. Makes a good change of pace and keeps everything running smoothly. Danger Us is a great number. Hard guitars, Stanley front and center and a catchy, excellent fun chorus. It’s everything KISS should be. Mixes references to women, booze and hell raising. If that Ain’t KISS, I don’t know what is. Two parts trouble baby! Gene Simmons comes back with the excellent I’m An Animal. He doesn’t try and growl this one out and instead displays a totally different side to his vocal range during the verse….and he pulls it off. This one could have been plucked right out of Destroyer. The lads have really managed to find their sound again and get back to doing what they love. Some classic Ace sounding guitar work here aswell.

Second last song, When Lightening Strikes makes some good use of a cowbell and some classic seventies American highway blues guitars. Written by Stanley and Tommy Thayer with Tommy taking vocals, the song doesn’t sound like a KISS song in the convention sense. It’s more like something ZZ Top or Free could have come out with. Thayer’s voice is great and really suits the sound, only made better with Paul’s harmonies giving it more scope. Really enjoyable rock n roll track with some great singing and nice guitar work. Final track, Say Yeah’s intro sounds uncomfortably familiar to Bruce Springsteen’s Radio No Where. Then again, he ripped off I Was Made for Loving You last year so now they’re even. The rest of the song is pretty sweet. Another great Ace sounding solo, colossal chorus and general arena filling, good time, KISS traits.

After only being on sale for two days, the album is on track to appear at #1 on the US Billboard Top 100 with sales off 150/175,000. In Tickets There’s opinion, it’s well deserved. Sonic Boom is a great KISS album and one that’s got more than enough material to keep fans digging through it. If 2008 belonged to AC/DC then 2009/10 will belong to KISS.

Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The Killers or KISS?

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 6, 2009 by Tickets There

So the day is finally here. the day when KISS release their first album of original material in eleven years and folks, from what Tickets There’s heard, it’s going to be a special one.

To celebrate, TT has given you our personal KISS-LECTION guide, Reviews of Alive!, Alive II, Alive III and Alive IV (The Millennium Concert) and reasons to pick KISS before The Beatles and The Pixies. Now, Tickets There wants to ask you another question, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The Killers or…KISS?

The Killers or KISS?

Want to pose in suits? Make sure you at least look as cool as KISS when they, Dressed to Kill!!

If you’re going to be on a magazine cover, at least pick a respectable one.

Kings of Leon or KISS?

Why would this band even bother when KISS has Rock N Roll Over?

Coldplay or KISS?

Coldplay are just pathetic. Like U2 before them, they’re music for emotionally retarded housewife’s. This is the only picture I could find of them doing anything other than licking children from Africa and looking serious. So, to be fair I’ve only put up a simple, normal everyday group shot of KISS on top of the empire state building!!

The Beatles or KISS?

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, News with tags , , , , on October 3, 2009 by Tickets There

The Beatles, hard to k now if they’re the most sensibly boring group in history or the true overlords of all things music. Personally, I’m a Stones man, for them it wasn’t about what genius you could dream up while off your face on drugs, it was more about trying to play your biggest hit without falling of the stage while of your face on drugs.

Either way, the Beatles aren’t a party band. Imagine Hey Jude full blast in Ibiza! Doesn’t work, but KISS, KISS always works!! Check out the album covers below. Would you like to Meet the Beatles or go into the night with KISS

The Beatles or KISS?

The Pixies or KISS?

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , on October 2, 2009 by Tickets There

The pixies

Underground alt rock legends, The Pixies are currently playing a few shows in Dublin’s Olympia theatre. Kim Deal, Frank Black and the rest of em are treating fans to some serious hard hitting anthems, written by the pioneers of the grunge / generation X / jilted Generation folk.

Now, I just watched a video of their show last night on NME and it’s of them playing Debaser. Not a song I ever really liked and after watching that performance, not one that’ll convert me any time soon. The playing, singing and harmonies are all totally off and Kim Deal’s backing just sounds pointless. Frank is really the only thing holding it together and on top of all that, it has to be the most boring stage set up in the history of music.

You ask me The Pixies or KISS?

ok, ok/ The Pixies played these songs…now leave us alone!
