Dear ‘Entombed’ – What the Hell?

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music with tags , , on February 10, 2012 by Tickets There

Last night myself and the mad Brazilian were finishing up our third pints and couldn’t decide if we’d go for another. Being broke, Thursday, drinking weekend ahead of us..etc, we weren’t sure it was the best idea, as 4 generally leads to 8 and 8 leads to vodka and Jag back at the house. The taste was there though and we decided to pick a random track from Entombed (one of the heaviest bands on the planet) and agreed that if the accompanying video ( I For An Eye) was in anyway brutal, we would get another. Well ,….FFS, did we pick the worst metal video of all time? I believe we came close. No brutality, no nothing that in any way helped us convince each other than fate has said ‘YES LADS, get yourselves another pint of that lovely Czech stuff you’re drinking’.

Entombed, by the name alone that video should have had something brutal in it, as should all your videos. Next time ye have kids flying around on bikes, try to gore it up a little and pay some heed to your thirsty fans and well-wishers who want nothing more than to say, ‘Thank-you Entombed for helping me get drunk’. Next time I’m asking Motörhead.

ABBA: Shocking 2012 Announcement…

1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Can’t Be Wrong!

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 9, 2012 by Tickets There

Black Sabbath fans around the world are currently reeling at the news that founding member; Bill Ward has dropped out of the band’s forthcoming reunion. In a public letter posted on his Facebook page, Bill announced that he could not, in good faith, continue with the current recording/touring plans until he was presented with a ‘signable contract’ that showed him some level of respect for his contribution to the band.

Since making the announcement, rumours have been rife  that ‘certain wife’s’ are behind Bill not getting his well-earned 25% cut but this morning, candidate No.1 Sharon Osbourne came out publicly and denied she had any involvement. To make things worse, the remaining members of Black Sabbath have publicly announced they will continue with their plans with or without Ward and are currently recording in England.

Last year the original line-up of Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler announced they were reforming to record a new album and play live again. Even news that Tony Iommi was seriously ill didn’t seem to throw their plans into doubt but the fracturing caused by this latest split may be enough to undermine the entire comeback.

To show their disapproval, some fans have set up a Facebook page called ‘1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Say Yes to Bill Ward’ that currently has over 28,000 members and is growing by an estimated rate of five new members per second. The aim of the page is to stand united against Geezer, Ozzy and Tony until they come to their senses and treat Bill with the respect he has earned and give him back his rightful place as one quarter of the band we all love so much. A Black Sabbath reunion wouldn’t be a reunion without Tony, Geezer or Ozzy and it certainly isn’t a reunion without Bill and that is what people have signed up for. Bring Back Bill – Join the campaign now.

Dublin Metal Events: Upcoming 2012 Shows

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 9, 2012 by Tickets There

Dublin Metal Events have been busy as hell this year with 13 shows book between now and April, and they ain’t finish yet. The savagely cruel head honcho ‘H’ has promised a pretty tasty announcement for tomorrow after an earlier promise led to the announcement that W.A.S.P. will be returning to Dublin as part of their 30th anniversary tour.

Before that, there’s several other acts that will please all the hairy  leather ‘n’ denim brigade out there.  Few notes added to the ones Tickets There recommends if you’re looking to try something new. All dates available on the D.M.E. Events Page on Facebook.

Alestorm – 12/02/12 – The Pint
Krisiun + Malevolent Creation + Vital Remains – 14/02/12 – The Pint
The Devil’s Blood – 18/02/12 – The Pint
Alcest – 19/02/11 – The Pint

Fleshgod Apocalypse – 09/03/12 – The Pint
Stand Up And Shout – A Ronnie James Dio Tribute – 10/03/12 – Button Factory

  • Tribute night to the late great Ronnie James \,,/DIO\,,/. Seattle’s premier DIO tribute band will come and do their best at reminding you why we all miss the little fella so much. The disappointment from Heaven & Hell’s Iron Maiden support still runs deep; maybe this will go a little towards reconciliation. RIPDIO

Amon Amarth – 15/03/12 – Vicar St

  • Perhaps the only time it is ok for Vikings to return to Ireland. Amon Amarth will be bringing their Swedish rage to Vicar Street with DME promising us their full stage show is coming along for the rise. Heyyy hoooo – Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding!

Suffocation – 16/03/12 – The Pint

 Exhumed – 21/03/12 – The Pint

  • You take a little Death metal, a sprinkling of hardcore, some more death metal and the beatings of a thousand soldiers and you’ve got Exhumed. Now, despite some fans objections to the band becoming a lot more radio friendly and being play listed on a lot of morning and drive time shows, Tickets There thinks these guys do still credit their roots. Just because Ray Darcy likes them doesn’t mean you don’t have to!…..Tickets There will not be attending this show in case Matt Harvey tears TT’s head off.

April – Dec 2012

Obscura – 02/04/11 – The Pint
Absu + Impiety – 11/04/12 – The Pint
Orange Goblin – 20/04/12 – The Pint

  • You’ve got to ask yourself, ‘what else would ya be doing?’ Organge Goblin in town and you’re sitting at home with a tin, jacking off to Cristina Scabbia? Dude, get out of the house more and rock out to Rage of Angels, Blue Snow and  The Ballad of Solomon Eagle!!

Mael Mordha & Darkest Era – 27/04/12 – The Pint
W.A.S.P. – 25/09/12 – Vicar St

  • Tickets There we stupid enough to wait until 2010 to really get into the W.A.S.P. buzz but their show at The Academy was enough to seal us in as life time fans. The news that they’re coming back deserves a little post all of it’s own…..which it has….right …. HERE

Review: Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Steel Panther – Live @ The MEN Arena, Manchester (December 11th 2011)

Posted in Gig Review, Hy-Giy, INTO-NOISE!, Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 1, 2012 by Tickets There

Tickets There kept the head down majorly last year, but you didn’t think we’d miss one of the greatest touring line-ups in living history did you? The heroic conquering heroes Def Leppard, the filthiest grime and sleaze you can scrape off the streets of LA (Steel Panther :p) and the tided up and looking great Mötley Crüe all under the same roof! Not something to be missed no matter how far you have to travel.

Anyone that’s ever been to the MEN arena knows two things. First, it’s massive! Entering at the top level and walking down those oh so fun steps in the dark with thousands of people behind you is no fun whatsoever; but if fills you with plenty of adrenaline that can be doused with pints. Second, there’s no smoking….officially. What happens in the toilets, stays in the toilets. Aside from that, it’s easily one of the greatest venues in the U.K. with plenty of bars, merch stands, standing room and incredible sound. Walking in at the obnoxiously early time of 18:30, it’s strange to see the arena so full, but then again Steel Panther are already on stage and nobody wants to miss this.

Opening with ‘Supersonic Sex Machine’ from their new album, Balls Out, Steel Panther are on fire from the word go. While some felt their tongue in cheek take on metal wouldn’t wash with the English crowd (I cannot fathom where that idea came from) it seems Panther know what they’re doing no matter where they play. ‘Tomorrow Night’,’ Asian Hooker’ and ’Just Like Tiger Woods’ gain them a rapturous response from the crowd and an understood, open invite to return to the UK anytime they choose; but the night’s over yet. Their onstage banter, led by guitarist Satchel, and riff heavy tracks are the perfect entertainment to kick off a night of hair metal. The group close with the classic ballad ‘Community Property’, ‘17 Girls In A Row’ and the almighty giant, ‘Death to All but Metal’ and it’s oh so appropriate line, “Where is Def Leppard, Where is Motley Crue?”…well they’re backstage ”fucking groupies” according to singer Michael Starr. With the group earning “literally hundreds of pounds” to play this tour and their promotion over Reckless Love in the spandex genre, no doubt they’ll come back for more in 2012.

With the novelty side of the night over, it’s time for the first of our two headliners to lay the marker, throw the gauntlet and blow our heads off! Mötley Crüe explodes onstage with all the fire, energy and power they’re known for. ‘Wild Side’ (the greatest drinking song in their repertoire), ‘Saints of Los Angeles’ (proof they still know how to write bitchin’ tracks) and ‘Live Wire’ open the show. Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee and the great Mick Mars all shine on stage with Vince and Nikki covering every inch of the stage, Mick holding his own with the fans and on guitar; and of course, Tommy the legend overshadowing all of them from behind his kit. How does he do it? Well you gotta be blonde to find that out. In every possible way, everyone in attendance tonight knows they’re witnessing one of the most iconic bands in rock music at their best.

‘Shout At The Devil’ boosts a mass sing along from the crows with arms raised, explosions from the stage and pounding on the bass. ‘S.O.S.’ and the awesome ‘Primal Scream’ keep the adrenaline going before the band convene around a grand piano for a stripped back rendition of ‘Home Sweet Home’ before re-launching the action with ‘Looks That Kill’. Taking a break, the band retires back stage to let Tommy begin his drum solo and did we mention….. his drum was set up on a rollercoaster track? Oh Yeah! Tommy kicks off his solo as standard before the whole kit starts to roll to the left and right of the track before going into full 360° action without a single beat being missed. Slowing down, Tommy asks for volunteers from the audience to come up, eventually catching one bewildered looking lady who gets strapped in and flown off as Tommy drums the beat from the Chilli Pepper’s ‘Love Roller-coaster’. And we thought Steel panther were meant to have the theatrics! With that, the band return for Mick Mars apocalyptic-solo  before the bands returns for ‘Dr. Feelgood’.

As Crüe’s set comes to an end (still have another band! TT – you’re writing too much nonsense – Ed), Leppard singer, Joe Elliott, walks on stage to present Nikki with a birthday cake and rouse the crowd to sing to him. The set’s closed with ‘Mutherfucker of the Year’,’ Girls, Girls, Girls’ and ‘Smokin’ In The Boys Room’. With one encore of ‘Kickstart My Heart’, the boys are done and the stage is dismantled. While Vince’s voice has never been known for its dominating power in the arena, the sheer force of the band’s sound and incredible wealth of tunes makes them one of the must see bands on the road today. Anytime ye fancy an auld visit to Ireland lads, Tickets There will be waiting.

Now, time for the true Gods of the live arena. The band that sell sex, love and rockin’ out with every note! The one, the only (we’re fans – get over it); Def Leppard! While Panther have the comedy, Crüe have the edge; Leppard will always be the force that pulls it all together and adds so much more. They overcome every single obstacle in the book of ‘Shit things that happen to bands’ and still come out on top every time. They’ve lost members, limbs, fans, popularity and sales and yet here they are, 30+ years after their inception still headlining arenas around the world and breaking new ground with every step. No matter what you say about Def Leppard, they are a true model of how a band stays together, stays successful and comes out ‘winning’ every time.

Leppard kick of their set on a stage that suddenly looks twice as large with ‘Undefeated’ from their new live album, Mirrorball. The band looks every bit in shape and together as they ever have and they waste no time displaying those traits that help them outshine all others in their class. ‘Rocket’, ‘Action’, ‘Make Love Like A Man’ and ‘When Love and Hate Collide’ all lead the traditional route into the heart of their set with Joe Elliott’s voice literally decimating the sound system with its power. Despite the Crüe fans bickering about the true headliners tonight, no-one in the arena can deny that Elliott is knocking Vince Neil out of the park with every note. And it’s not like the rest of the band are taking a break either. ‘Gods of War’, a rare inclusion, sets the night on fire with its powerful riffs, courtesy of Phil and Viv. It’s pounding, yet starkly placed drums (aka – Mr. Rick ‘Thunder God’ Allen) and its incredible wall of backing vocals and heaving bas lines. Step up Mr. Sav. If this isn’t everything you want from a Leppard concert, I don’t know what is!

‘Two Steps Behind’, ‘Bringin’ on the Heartbreak’ and the mega ‘Switch 625’ really lay it home how good the band are sounding these days. It’s obvious the lads are delighted to be playing their first proper UK shows in four years (not including their 2009 and 2011 headlining shows at Download – ahem – Ed) and they’re basking in every minute of it. ‘Hysteria’ and ‘Animal’ follow before the pile drive the set home with the classics ‘Armageddon It’, ‘Photograph’ and ‘Pour Some Sugar On me’. The band scarified ‘Rock of Ages’ for Gods of War, but who’s complaining? Leppard return to the stage to round of an incredibly long but mind-blowing night with ‘Love Bites’ and the always classic, ‘Let’s Get Rocked’. Band happy, Lepp fans happy and Mötley Crüe begrudgingly tipping their hats – it’s a wrap.  After eight shows in five years, TT doesn’t know when we’ll get to see the mighty Lepp again, but one’s things for sure; there will be a next time. ..

Guns N’ Roses 2012 Dublin Show: Exciting Possibilities

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , on January 31, 2012 by Tickets There

Fans could be in for a seriously delicious treat when Guns N’ Roses hit the O2 on may 17th. Denis Desmond has stated the band will be using Ireland as a rehearsal base before they hit the road for a European trek in May, June and July and Dublin will be the kick off show for that tour. (Axl himself requested a show in Dublin to clear up ‘unfinished business’ with his Irish fans. For those pessimists out there, that means Axl wants to come back and rock the house with Guns, just like they do everywhere else in the world.

Now the exciting bit (yes, even more exciting). Since Dublin will be the kick off show, Irish fans may get to experience a show similar to that seen in Taipei and Seoul back in 2009 where Guns played up to 3.5/4 hours a night, playing over 25 songs. There could be new material, live tests – the works!

Either way, you’re still in for a three hour show, packed full of their excellent new material and the classics. Once again, bring it ON!

The Walls Announce :fund:it Campaign

Posted in IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , , on January 30, 2012 by Tickets There

Perhaps a slight touch of Déjà vu  this morning for our readers, but The Walls have announced details of their Stop The Lights album :fund:it campaign. Steve and Joe have set themselves 27 days to raise €10,000 to help complete the mastering, artwork and manufacturing of the record which they hope to release in early March this year. There’s a fair whack of rewards available to fans depending on the size of their contribution including signed copies of the album, t-shirts, downloads, bonus releases, the chance to attend a song writing workshop with Joe and Steve Wall and even a once in a life time opportunity to have The Walls perform a show in your house. Please find the details below,

Our new album “Stop the lights” is almost finished and due to be released in early March 2012. It includes last summers radio hit Bird in a Cage and the just-released single Stop the Lights. This will be our third album (not including the Stunning albums). We’re really excited about it and feel the songs are as strong as anything we’ve released in the past.

Fund it is an ideal way for our fans to be part of the process and contribute whatever they feel is appropriate in a secure way…and you get handsomely rewarded for doing so . You can donate using a debit or credit card and its only debited if we reach the target.

We’ve worked with some great people in the making of this album, including Rob Kirwan who’s worked with U2 and recorded PJ Harvey’s recent Mercury Award winning album. Stop the Lights is being mastered by Geoff Pesche in Abbey Road, London. The artwork looks amazing and is being done by Conor & David, one of Ireland’s best graphic design team.

To pay for the mastering, artwork, manufacturing etc. we’d like to raise some money so we’re starting a Fund it campaign. We’ve set the target at €10,000 but we really hope to raise more as the overall costs far exceed that amount. We really appreciate you coming on board! Joe & Steve

To see the full details of all the rewards available to donators, please visit the :fund:it Campaign homepage.

The show is part of their Appetite for Democracy residency that lasts until Nov. 24th and sees the band playing on an all new stage, covering hits from their entire back catalogue.  The first set-list was much the same as fans have seen them play on their recent tours but promises have been made to shake things up from show to show. The next gig takes place tomorrow.

In other news, Las Vegas county commissioner Mary Beth Scow has deemed the advertisement for the show (based on the original Appetite for Destruction cover) Inappropriate. Fans of the movie Casiono will know what county commissioners are like and will understand. Everyone else, you should really watch it – De Niro bitches!

“I hadn’t seen the advertising before the media event,” she told the Sun. “It’s clearly inappropriate. Maybe it’s the risk of doing business with a rock band, but I guess we’ll have some remorse over this decision. It’s a lesson learned.”

The advertisements have been plastered all over Las Vegas, appearing on taxi cabs, walls, buses, billboards…etc, etc. To see some samples – click here.

Aside from some gobshite who through a glass a Ron Thal, the show seems to have gone off exactly with another packed set that still includes – ‘I used to Love Her’ but no ‘Shacklers Revenge’ for Tickets There (sad face).

Oh, and did we mention Guns N’ Roses will play Israel at Hayarkon Park, Tel Aviv on July 3rd?. Be there or …. be at temple I suppose. Either way have a good excuse! This is the 12th show of their 2012 summer tour with many more still to come (we hope!)

Just after we confirm there’s no new European updates, we get a f**king-nother one. Not that the good people of Switzerland are going to mind. Guns N’ Roses have confirmed a date at St. Jakobshalle, Basel for the 27th of June. The venue holds about 9,000 people and was made famous by inspiring Bob Dylan to begin his ‘Never ending tour’, which anyone that’s ever seen Bob Dylan will know is not necessarily a good thing. Give it up Bob, give it up. (excellent use of Wikipedia there TT! – Ed). Tickets are priced CHF 80.00 and go on sale…well, best we can tell is they’re on sale now – Click Here

Guns N’ Roses are two dates into their ‘Up Close and Personal’ US tour. So far the group have performed two of the three New York shows with the tour starting in Manhattan’s Roseland Ballroom before moving on to Terminal 5, which is located in Hell’s Kitchen. Both venues have an approx. capacity of 3,000. Next stop will be the show everyone’s been waiting for, a return to ‘The Ritz’ (1,500 capacity – awesome) where the band recorded their famous ‘Guns N’ Roses Live At The Ritz concert in 1988. The venue has since returned to its original name, Webster Hall but in honour of Gun’s return, they’re renaming it for one night.

So far the sets have been in the range of two hours and forty minutes with a selection of songs to please any fan (aside from ‘Chinese Democracy’ no longer appearing on the set – Boo urns!). With songs, solo’s and jams – the set features roughly 29 different moments. Standouts include ‘Estranged’, ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘Civil War’, ‘This I Love’, ‘Rocket Queen’ and ‘Better’.  Full dates for the remaining shows can be seen below and on Guns N’ Roses official website – www.gunsnroses.com

Denis Desmond, head of Irish concert promoter recently spoke to The Irish Times and confirmed Guns singe, Axl Rose had personally requested a date in Dublin’s O2 arena as he feels there is unfinished business with the band’s Irish fans. You know what that’s in reference to. Tickets There managed to wreck several folks heads in the pub last night with our cheers of joy over this announcement and we plan on doing the same for all of our readers over the next four months.

ORIGINAL STORY – January 27th 2011

This is becoming a tradition at this stage, but 2012 is easily kicking off with the brightest start yet. GUNS N’ ROSES Announce 2012 Dublin Show

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , on January 27, 2012 by Tickets There

I know right! WTF is going on in the world? As ZombieDee phrased it, has hell actually frozen over and do they need additional heaters to stop their water tanks from collapsing through their celling’s? Dear hell, if you are in need of assistance please do not be too proud to ask. We Irish have been through it enough.

Seriously though, seriously! Guns N’ Roses, the greatest hard rock band in the world have (seriously) announced a show at Dublin’s Point Theatre (O2 Arena) for the 17th of May. Ahem, you may remember their infamous 2010 show at the same venue….need I try to carry on with half assed witty comments?? I think not.

Guns N’ Roses are coming back, tickets go on sale next Friday, February 3rd @ 09:00 priced €65.45 plus booking fee from ticketmaster.ie. This will be just a few weeks after their inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame which is expected to see the original line-up reform for one night in celebration of the event. There’s also talk the new Guns will be touring Europe all summer so expect a few more dates soon.

Note to Fans: Get over it! If you don’t want to go then don’t. The band will arrive late, Slash will not be there so don’t buy a ticket if all you’re going to do is bitch about the new line-up, Axl, the tardiness..etc, etc. Go see another band if you want punctuality. If you go see Guns N’ Roses prepare for a taxi home (cause there’ll be no trains), a long wait and one of the best live shows you’ll ever see with three hours of incredible music. You have four months to save for the taxi and a few extra pints so no bitch slap rapping!

It’s all go at the Wall household this year. First of all 2012 seems to be the year The Walls will finally release their third album, Stop The Lighst. This one’s been a long time coming but anyone’s that’s heard previous releases like Bird In A Cage, Phantom Power and Carrying The Fire will agree it’ll be worth it. To kick things off the band have released another single titled ‘Stop The Lights’ and it’s available from all good radio stations who will even take the time and effort to play it for you on the air if you’d be so good as to give them a call. More info on the album as and when we have it…or by TT traditions, 6 months after Goldenplec tell you. For now, have a listen to a live recording of Stop The Lighst below.

Also, it’s The Stunning’s 25th anniversary this year so expect news galore on the coming months. Rumour is there’s a tour in the works and even a new release but details remain to be seen. The official update from the band can be found below (there goes my ‘rumour story)

2012 is The Stunning’s 25th anniversary!

It’s hard to believe as we’ve hardly changed over the years and we play even better! But it is indeed 25 years since the band formed. Watch this space for some activity later this year. There’s talk of a new release (including a couple of new songs) and a tour. Stay in touch…..
