It’s Oh so Quiet….

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, News with tags , , , , on May 18, 2011 by Tickets There

This is what happens when you leave the internet for a while, things go arse ways! Yesterday I logged through the phone for a quick peak at the news and what did I discover? One of my favourite Irish Music Blogs, Harmless Noise, is closing down forever. The blogs owner, chief architect and all-round voice of music, Naomi McArdle, has decided to wind down the blog and apparently her writing career for good.

Beginning on the Hotpress blog ‘Off Her Rocker’, Nay started Harmless Noise in 2009 and within a very short space of time, had etched out a highly regarded position for her-self amongst the Dublin music scene. Over the past two years she has strived to find, promote and love as many of our home-grown talents as possible. She always has a good ear (aside from Bats, I won’t give in Nay!) and always set the standard for getting out and going to see these bands in person.

Nay has put up with some hard times over the past two years but the support she’s received from her readers and the bands she strives to promote shows that blogging is beneficial to the music scene, as there are very few main stream outfits who are bothered giving these bands any coverage. Her blog is a bench mark for all serious bloggers if they want to achieve their goal of properly publicizing our own bands and artists. Her unmeasurable hard work and sacrifice to keep the blog going, in good times and bad, is a testament to her love and devotion for Ireland’s music scene.

Of course it wasn’t boredom or lack of interest or love that’s brought Harmless Noise to a close, it wasn’t even the occasional fruitcake that pops up on all blogs at one time or another. Nay has no shortage of love for what she does and is more than capable of handling the masked nastiness of the internet’s troll community. I won’t go into the reasons as it’s not my business and you’re better reading it for yourself on Harmless Noises’ last ever post located here: This Is The Last One I Will Spin

Harmless Noise will be sorely missed by her friends, her readers but most importantly the bands she worked so hard for. There is now one less credible, hard working source out there to find and write about our music, closing that window of opportunity to younger artists just a little bit more, as if it wasn’t hard enough for them already.

To Nay we say good luck and we hope to see you back soon!

Def Leppard release new song ‘Undefeated’ and Mirrorball Track-listing

Posted in Music, News, Single Review with tags , , , , , , on April 12, 2011 by Tickets There

Def Leppard has released the track listing for their first ever live album which is due out in June (or May, depending on where you live). Titled Mirrorball, the album is coming as 2 CD’s showcasing Leppard’s long and illustrious career as kings of Arena Rock both in Europe and the States. There’s also a DVD with on and off stage footage ‘AND’ three brand spanking new tracks from their next studio album which is currently due out next year (it’s Leppard, only God knows when their new albums surface).

Lead singer Joe Elliott took to the airwaves this morning to introduce the first of those new songs to the public masses. The track is titled ‘Undefeated’ and forgoing the feeling of over reaching in the songs composition; it’s not a bad wee number. The band has brought the riffs back and there’s a bit of lead here and there, but Tickets There doesn’t believe it’s lived up to it’s “Queen-type vocal thing” that Joe promised us. It’s definitely a continued step in the right direction after the band returned to their heavier sound on Songs From The Sparkle Lounge but still lacking that deadly lick that made earlier Leppard so passionate and fun. The vocals are also a little more stripped back for a Leppard song which will disappoint some fans (us) who were hoping Joe would bring that raw energy he displayed on the Down ‘N’ Outz record over to Leppard.

On saying all that, the song has its moments and it kicks the shit out of Nine Lives (fecking Country and western, come on lads! You’re not f**king Bon Jovi!). It’ll make a welcome addition to the bands set-list this summer and if the other two tracks match it then we have an exciting new Leppard release on our hands. Below is the track listing for the live album.

Disc 1:
01. Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)
02. Rocket
03. Animal
04. C’Mon C’Mon
05. Make Love Like A Man
06. Too Late For Love
07. Foolin’
08. Nine Lives
09. Love Bites
10. Rock On

Disc 2:
01. Two Steps Behind
02. Bringin’ On The Heartbreak
03. Switch 625
04. Hysteria
05. Armageddon It
06. Photograph
07. Pour Some Sugar On Me
08. Rock Of Ages
09. Let’s Get Rocked
10. Action
11. Bad Actress
12. Undefeated (new studio track)
13. Kings Of The World (new studio track)
14. It’s All About Believin’ (new studio track)

The Riptide Movement – Keep On, Keepin’ On (Single Review)

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News, Single Review with tags , , , on March 1, 2011 by Tickets There

The Riptide Movement are back with a new single from their forthcoming debut album….(no title yet, excuse the lack of press J). Keep On, Keepin’ On follows their highly successful debut single, Hot Tramp that stormed the airwaves late last year.

Keeping their standard blue grass feel, the band has produced another tobacco chewing, spittoon of Cajun rock. This time the cut throat rock feel has been toned down but the feeling of Americana is still there and the band’s sound can be heard expanding with each note.

An excellent number that deserves as much attention as you can give it. The album is finished and coming out this year so keep an eye on Tickets There for updates because this is one you don’t want to miss.

If you want to get a taste of the new record, make sure you head down to see the lads live in The Academy 2 this weekend.

There’s two shows so whether you’re a young folks who can’t shave yet @ 14:00 (under 14’s) with special guests The Boxing Plot & The Competition followed by a late show (with drinkies for all you over the hill, drunken silly folk….myself included) @ 20:00 with special guests Leaving Las Vegas & Powderhorse

Tickets are priced E10 for both shows and there’ll be free CD’s on the day!

***UPDATE – 16th Nov. *** LAS VEGAS & L.A. Tour Dates Added***

Sorry for the recent silence folks – will do a proper update this evening, For now it’s time for Los Angeles and Las Vegas to get excited cause Guns N’ Roses are coming to town. The band have announced shows for December 21st (@ The Forum, LA) and 31st (The Joint, Las Vegas) so get your Christmas and New Year’s all within a few hours’ drive of each other….and several days apart. What am I talking about? Who knows!

Oh, and Axl hasn’t ruled out the option of re-uniting with the old line-up if Guns get inducted to the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame. He knows some fans want to see it and isn’t against the suggestion.

***UPDATE – 1st Nov. *** Axl Rose Battling Bronchitis – But The Show Must Go On ***

According to blabbermouth (who in turn credit it to an insider from Guns N’ Roses management) has leaked that Axl Rose has been battling bronchitis and ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ for the past few weeks. For those of you who don’t know, Montezuma’s Revenge is a nice way of saying ‘travellers diarrhea’ which Axl himself confirmed he had in a recent posting on his twitter account.

Despite this, Axl and the Guns have been kicking ass and taking names in Orlando, Miami and they’re set to do the same again tonight in Greenville, South Carolina at a special Halloween show at the Bi-Lo Centre. The last two shows have toppled the three hour mark with Axl and DJ Ashba even stopping by a sleepy VH1 crew from ‘That Metal Show’ to give an hour long interview.

America, if you haven’t bought tickets for this tour yet then you deserve a slap!

***UPDATE – 31st Oct. *** Happy Halloween Guns N’ Roses fans ***

Wishing all you fans and the band a very Happy Halloween.Hope you like this very special Axl Rose / GN’R Logo pumpkin that cause my hand much throbbing 🙂

***UPDATE – 30th Oct. *** US Tour: 2 Dates in! ***

Well folks, they’re home! Guns N’ Roses kicked off their first US tour in five years on Friday night with a stunning 2.5 hour show at Orlando, Florida. The set included 23 songs, 5 solos and 2 jams. According to reports from fans Guns sounded amazing, blowing the crowd away. Just read the comments on the Orlando Sentinel for poof. Included in the set were Chinese Democracy classic including Better, There Was A Time, Sorry, Madagascar and Chinese Democracy as well as fan favourites Don’t Cry, Estranged, Rocket Queen, You Could Be Mine and of course ..the usual :). Excellent set and an excellent comeback from the band.

But they didn’t stop there, last night the band headlined Miami American Airline’s Arena and played an equally stunning show again with no muss, no fuss; just good old fashioned Guns N’ Roses rock ‘n’ roll. Long may it continue! The official GN’R facebook has lots of tasty snaps for ya’ll to check out. Also, several new Canadian dates and a handful of additional American ones have been announced over the past coule of weeks. Tickets There apologizes for the delay getting these up – work I’m afraid and lots of it has stopped us doing anything else. Never fear, we’ll get there.

***UPDATE – 12thOct. *** FAT / OBESE / VOICE LOST / UNRECOGNIZABLE / LOOKS AND SOUNDS HORRIBLE / FAT AXL ***

I think it’s time to get something straight that’s annoying Tickets There and probably a lot of other Guns N’ Roses fans. Axl Rose is not fat, obese, unrecognizable. He doesn’t look horrible, his voice isn’t gone…etc, etc. The people writing this shite are called the media (and dick heads). The media make money of Axl Rose by focusing only on the negative and tearing them to shreds. Nobody ever hears about all of the fantastic shows Guns N’ Roses play because the media couldn’t be arsed talking about them. They like the controversy, the juice and they’ll suck the blood of the this band as long as they can because, well; Guns N’ Roses are the band people love to hate.

For instance, now the tabloids and online blogs are claiming Axl is fat and unrecognizable on the current tour. He looked exactly the same last year when they played Europe – not sure what the story is but if they’re expecting to see a 49 year old man looking the same as he did in 1987 (when he was 24) then that’s really their problem isn’t it?

As for losing his voice, Guns have played four shows on their current South American tour (Rio, Santiago, La Plata and Rosario). The last three have gone extremely well and you need only listen to the videos to see for yourself. Rio was first and Axl didn’t have his best night. I believe you’ll find that most musicians will say the first night of a tour is never the best (never-f**king-ever actually). Maybe it should be taken for granted that Axl, like all humans may get nerves and needs time to warm up and get comfortable. it can’t be easy; jumping on stage, day 01 of tour and play to 300,000 people for two hours in the pissing rain. Get off his back or have the deceny to trwat every band the same if you must bitch.

As for the bands tardiness, well what can I say? Oh, I could say that after two decades of late shows you are a f**king retard of the highest proportions to expect anything else. If you seriously (and I mean seriously) expect GN’R to be punctual after two decades of controversy and late gigs then you really are a total loss and a dreg of mankind. I cannot get over the sher rampant stupidity of anyone that would expect this band to be on time after everything they’ve done to convince the whole world that they’ll never change. You are a total moron and you possibly need to be sterilized or shot to stop you from infecting the rest of the race with … well, whatever the hell is making you that thick. My god, sea lions learn faster than you, monkeys, snails, brick walls, dirt – everything in the world has more intelligence than you and your kind.

Now for Obese comments (you f**king pricks! Wonder how the public would react if you just started snapping regular punters in the streets a couple of pounds overweight and called them obese in the press? There’d be outrage! Axl doesn’t look for media attention and avoids it like the plague so why focus on him?). Below is a picture of an obese man(left) and Axl Rose from the Chile gig on October 5th 2011 (right). Does he look obese? Does he look terrible? No, he looks a lot younger than 49 and he’s rocking the place. Did you hear about that? No – why? Because of everything in the opening paragraph.

The haters have nothing better to do with their lives than stir shit. Axl doesn’t let it get to him and that’s an example for us all. Fuck the haters, do your own thing. Heeding that advise, this is my last word on it.

***UPDATE – 10thOct. *** Facebook Fun & More U.S. Tour Dates Confirmed

‘Love them / hate them – they ain’t changing no matter what’ seems to be the message coming from the Guns camp in their latest FaceBook update. In a posting on Saturday (Oct. 8th) the band reaffirmed that anyone who has trouble staying up late for a hard rock concert has no business being there (agreed). Here it is in full,

Love it Hate it Accept it Debate it – You want 8 o’clock shows go find F-R-I-E-N-D-S or hit a cinema somewhere.. or you wanna be informed go catch the 10 o’clock news.. this is Rock N’ Roll! Treat yourself don’t cheat yourself thinking you’re gonna go to school or work or whatever you “normally” do the next day. Oh and remember before you get high and never want to come down. “you can have anything you want but you better not take it from me!” This is Guns N’Roses and when the time is right the stage will ignite. Looking forward to sharing that with rockers soon

What do you say to that? Well Tickets There has to agree. We’ve been through it and you know what – Guns comes on and kick ass. if you need an early sleep or have somewhere to be – then don’t go and see Guns N’ Roses. No-one’s making you so deal with it.

New U.S. Tour Dates!

Well folks, they’re back! Guns N’ Roses are not long off the stage from their Rick In Rio IV headlining slot. It’s very difficult to get a proper set-list at the moment but they apparently played all the tracks from the 2010 tour with the added bonus of ‘Estranged’ being played for the first time in 18 years and ‘One In A Million’.

One of the pics included above (which have all been robbed from Chinese Democracy.com Click for lots n lots more) is tonight’s sound desk set-list which includes two new totals ‘Going Down’ and ‘Riff Raff’. Whether these were played or not is still a mystery, but Tickets There doubts it as the boards and twitter would have lit up….not that they didn’t. A whooping 50% of all tweets for several hours there were Guns N Roses related – they still got it!

*** UPDATE – 12th June *** – Guns N’ Roses Announce Chile and Argentina Tour Dates
Would love to announce that you heard it here first, but Tickets There’s been busy this week enjoying the greatest few days of 2011 (so far). While we were off our old pals, GN’R announced a couple of South American shows in October that will coincide with their already announced headlining slot at Rock In Rio IV.

That’s right, they’ll be hitting the Movistar Arena in Santiago on October 5 (Chile) and the Estadio Único de La Plata (just outside Buenos Aires) on October 8th (Argentina). Tickets are on sale for both shows later this month.

Tickets There is delighted to see the band hitting the road again so soon and hopefully we’ll have more announcements in the coming weeks.

*** UPDATE – 11th May *** – DJ Ashba Hopes Guns N’ Roses Will Play US This Year
I Read the news today Oh Boy – Mr. DJ Ashba, a man we can all agree is a legend, has spoken (a few times recently – but we’ve been lazy) about the chances of Guns N’ Roses playing the US this year. As you may have noticed, the April – May dates we posted below aren’t going ahead (unless they’re very good at keeping secrets. Who knows, maybe they’ve played a million shows but forgot to let people in or tell anyone about them).

In a comment to Metal Injection at the recent Revolver Golden Gods Awards, Ashba made the following remark about the chances of Guns N’ Roses playing more dates this year.

“Absolutely,” he replied. “We just booked [Brazil’s] Rock in Rio [festival] for October 2, but there’s talk we’re gonna be going out way sooner. And hopefully we’re gonna be [playing dates] here in the States this year. I’m hoping. That’s the plan.”

I suppose the folks in the US must be getting pretty tired of these reports but as we’ve said before, be patient. They will play eventually and it’ll be one hell of a tour when they do. Maybe everyone go out, buy a copy of Chinese Democracy, forget the old guns and embrace the new sound (or stop listening to GN’R is you can’t dig it) and the band will be there in no time.

Thanks to GNRDaily.com(the greatest GN’R site on the net) for the story.

*** UPDATE – 29th March *** – Guns N’ Roses to Headline ROCK IN RIO 4

Oh yeah, the boys (Guns N’ Roses – Duh) are going for Brazil this year to headline the Rock In Rio festival on October 2nd. They’ll be playing the festival with old pals Metallica, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and lots more. Tickets on sale now.

This is the first confirmed show by the band for 2011 with the US tour that was suggested below looking less and less likely to kick off next week (Sarcasm). KISS Confirm New 2011 Album

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , on January 28, 2011 by Tickets There

The doom and gloom of our rancid recession ridden lives aside, the mighty KISS have cheered up the millennium with the confirmed announcement that they’ll be hitting the studio in March to record a brand spanking new record for release later this year. Mr. Paul ‘Starchild’ Stanley, the nicest man in rock music and the filthiest legend going with the ladies is once again set to spear head production duties for the record after the massive success from his last baby, Sonic Boom.

KISS + New Album = New Tour!!! Fortunately, the tour isn’t all these is these days as Sonic Boom proved The lads can whip out classic rock giants like ever before and a new album means at least 10 new songs to add to your favourite KISS tracks of all time. Tickets There’s list currently includes around 18,000 songs. Not all were written or recorded by KISS but deep down we know and you know that it was KISS in another form.

Anyways, the news was confirmed by Tommy ‘the main man’ (not his actual nickname folks, just the lads being unoriginal as always – Ed) Thayer when he gave an interview to BackstageAxxess recently. Read his bible like comments below!

“The great news is that we are going in the studio again in the next month or two. We are starting to work on writing some songs, approach it just like we did with Sonic Boom and keep it all in the band in terms of the writing, with no agenda besides writing great rock n’ roll songs that we love, then rehearsing them before then recording them. It really felt good to us so we’ll go the same way this time.”

“Paul knows more what a KISS record should sound like than anybody, to be honest with you, so he is going to lead the charge and produce it again and we are all really excited about it.

“I know we are going to start working on it really soon in terms of the writing and rehearsing and we’ll probably be in the studio by March, so sometime this year I’m sure you’ll see a spanking new KISS album that’s gonna kick some butt!”

Whitesnake ‘Forevermore’ Album Details Released

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , on January 19, 2011 by Tickets There

They’re back folks! One of Tickets There’s most beloved bands Whitesnake have released the official details of their up and coming album, Forevermore. Good news, you’ve only got two months to wait for the big date. Of course, who could tell you better than ‘The Snake’ themselves so please find their own press release below which included releases dates, musicians and tracks set to feature on the album.

Judging by the taster available for Love Will Set You Free, things sound sweetTickets There wishes the lads the very best of luck with the new album, we know it’s going to kick mother-f**king ass!

WHITESNAKE are back with the anticipated release of their brand new album “Forevermore”

WHITESNAKE, the legendary rock’n’roll legacy founded and formed by renowned singer/songwriter David Coverdale, unleashes a brand new storming ‘Snake statement, “Forevermore” on Frontiers Records on March 25th in Europe and March 29th in North America.

Their 11th studio album, “Forevermore” was recorded, produced and mixed by Coverdale, guitarist Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre at Snakebyte Studios and Grumblenott Studios & Villas in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, with additional work at Casa Dala, Sherman Oaks, CA, and Whitesnake will take to the road for a full world tour in support of the release.

Formed in 1977, and steered by the legendary Coverdale, Whitesnake carry a rightful reputation as one of the world’s leading rock’n’roll bands. Coverdale’s blues and soul roots, combined with a feral sense of rock and roll, have consistently shaped the ‘Snake’s sound, and add to that Coverdale’s love and appreciation of impeccable musicianship and you have a failsafe recipe for success.

Their ascent to the very top of the rock’n’roll tree was confirmed with 1987’s self-titled mega-platinum album, which saw two top 10 hits, two number one singles with ‘Here I Go Again’ and ‘Is This Love’ and a virtual 24 hour domination of MTV around the world. Such triumphs were surely foretold when as a young man from Saltburn-By-Sea, Coverdale enthusiastically answered the call to be Deep Purple‘s singer. Such bombast, bravado, talent and passion have thus helped establish Whitesnake as the perennial platinum favorite they have become.

With “Forevermore” Coverdale has reignited an explosively fruitful vein of creativity with guitarist and co-writer/producer Aldrich, Reb Beach (Winger, Alice Cooper) on guitar, Briian Tichy (Ozzy, Billy Idol, Foreigner) on drums and Michael Devin (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lynch Mob) on bass, and as with all Whitesnake’s albums, Coverdale aided so capably by Aldrich opens up his heart and soul to express emotions and empathy rarely heard these days in any musical genre.

More than simply their latest release, “Forevermore” represents Whitesnake’s no holds barred, most heartfelt, melodic and musically muscular excursion for many a year.

The album’s release will be anticipated by the digital only release of the first single/videoclip “Love Will Set You Free” on February 21st.

“Forevermore” will be specially released on a “Snake Pack” edition for the first 3 weeks in England only. This very special release – arranged in conjunction with Future Publishing and Classic Rock magazine – will come with a collectors edition 132 pages deluxe magazine + A1 poster & metal pin badge and shall feature an exclusive cover art and 2 bonus live tracks “Slide It In” and “Cheap An’ Nasty” which will serve as an appetizer for the forthcoming “Live @ Donington 1990” to be released in the summer 2011.

The album will be also be released on a double gatefold vinyl format, with deluxe special editions to be announced shortly.

This time Coverdale and Co. have really laid it on the line for their fans, and be sure of this, the Snake’s charms are going to convert a whole new army of believers just watch.

“Forevermore” will include the following songs:
Steal Your Heart Away; All Out Of Luck; Love Will Set You Free; Easier Said Than Done; Tell Me How; I Need You (Shine A Light); One Of These Days; Love And Treat Me Right; Dogs In The Street; Fare Thee Well; Whipping Boy Blues; My Evil Ways; Forevermore.

WHITESNAKE

  • David Coverdale – vocals
  • Doug Aldrich – guitar
  • Reb Beach – guitars
  • Michael Devin – bass
  • Brian Tichy – drums

Produced by Los Bros Brutalos (David Coverdale, Doug Aldrich, Michael McIntyre). Keep an eye on Whitesnake.com for more details!

Digital Socket Awards Announce 2010 Shortlist

Posted in IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , on January 14, 2011 by Tickets There

There’s a new award ceremony in town and this time the bloggers are taking control. Goldenplec, Harmlessnoise, Nialler9 and a whole host of Irish blogs have formed together to present the best of the best in Irish music from last year with this prestigious new award that’s being decided by no less than 26 judges.

The categories are filled with the obvious nods with bands like Adebisi Shank, Cathy Davey, A.S.I.W.Y.F.A., The Cast of Cheers and Villagers cashing in on a very successful year but there’s no shortage of other high quality acts that have been arguably passed over undeservingly by other similar award and media honours.

On a personal note, the award organizers have rejected Tickets There’s many petitions to have a special honorary mention of Def Leppard in a ‘Lifetime Achievement’ category and legal action has begun. We hope this does not interfere with the Award presentation ceremony which takes place on February 3rd in the Grand Social. Music on the night will be provided by Groom and Meljoann with two special guests & DJ’s to be announced.

Def Leppard Live Album Due Out In May

Posted in Music, News with tags , , , , , , , on January 13, 2011 by Tickets There

We were holding out for more details but it seems everything there is to know about this has been made public by the band now. Its official, Def Leppard are aiming to release their first ever full live album in May this year which will be followed by a US / Canadian tour with Kansas and Heart. There has been no mention of dates outside of the US or Canada as of yet.

The Live record is being taken from the bands 2009 tour which included shows at Dublin’s O2 Arena and a headlining appearance at the Download Festival in the U.K (although there is still no confirmation what shows the live record will be comprised from). Lead singer Joe Elliott and bass player Rick Savage are currently in Dublin (no, haven’t seen them yet L) listening through various live recordings from the tour trying to gauge the best possible versions of the tracks to use. We’re presuming producer Ronan McHugh is also involved.

The record is also set to feature four new tracks from the band which are currently being recorded by the different members in different parts of the world. We’ll tell you more as we know it.
