Apparently the last few tickets for Slayer’s June 11th show have been released. The Academy only holds 850 people (according to Wiki) so I can’t imagine there’s too many left. Go quick and enjoy the picture above while you’re doing it. Their Dublin show on June 10th and Belfast on June 12th are both sold out.

Legendary thrash metal band, Slayer, have confirmed shows in both Dublin and Belfast for this summer. The war starting juggernauts will steamroll into Ireland to play two intimate shows at Dublin’s The Academy and Belfast’s Limelight on May 10th and 12th respectively. Old filthty Tickets There is holding out hope that second nights may still be added.
Tickets are €42.50 and £35 (again respectively) and go on sale this Friday, March 8th (as confirmed by MCD for Dublin). They’ll be flogging them on Ticketmaster if you’re up in time.
- Slayer @ The Academy, June 10th 2013 (€42.50)

\,,/SLAYER \,,/ in The Academy, does life get any better? The last time I saw them was on an airfield in Warsaw, Before that it was the Point Depot. Never thought they’d play somewhere as small as the Academy but I guess someone has been a good drunk this year. Wonder if Dave Lombardo and Jeff Hanneman will be back by then?

Enthroned Support for Dublin Confirmed

Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Music, Single Review, Special Features with tags 2013, Belfast, Cher, Dead Ringer for love, Dublin, Jim Steinman, Leather jacket, Meat Loaf, Meatload on February 19, 2013 by Tickets ThereIt seems there’s a bit of excitement building over Meat Loaf’s semi-official confirmation that he’s coming to Belfast and Dublin later this year, as part of his ‘Last At Bat’ farewell tour. While we all wait for either MCD or Aiken to confirm the shows, let’s see what accessories gig goers will need in order to pay homage to the Loaf one last time.
1: A Jim Steinman – Very popular in the late seventies, remained strong in the early eighties and made a shockingly good come back in the early nineties. Every true Meat Loaf fan will want one for the shows in May or you’ll feel left out. Just try and remain friends at the end of the night.
2: A leather jacket – Classic in every sense. Not only does it make a wonderful rugged accessory for any gig goer, large or small. It’ll also keep the fires of hell at bay as you soar through them towards heaven on your Harley chopper (with yer moth giving ye grief from the back.)
3: A Cher – If you want to have a good duet to ‘Dead Ringer For Love’, make sure you bring your own Cher. Every time someone assumes there’ll be some spare Cher’s knocking about a M.L. gig, they end up being seriously disappointed. Remember though, a Cher is for life, not just for Meat Loaf.
4: (box of) Red handkerchief(s) – Doubtful you’ll manage to hold onto just one for the night. Do an Elvis and make your Cher or Jim Steinman carry spares for you so you can pass them out to fellow Loaf enthusiasts while walking around the venue. May get you a free drink…. or a box to the head. Either way – story sorted.
5: Indian / Harley Davidson Chopper – The ultimate in Meat Loaf styling and accessorising. There might be some bother getting it past security but the sounds of 14,000 engines revving up during ‘Bat Out of Hell’ will make it all worthwhile.
6: Frilly Tuxedo shirt – Although the Loaf keeps his own fashion up to date, there’s no reason his fans should change. A frilly tux shirt is just the job for this gig and nothing else would look right under the leathers, sat on chopper with Cher and Jim Steinman at your side.
Finally, 7: Willpower. You need to be in a position where you can honestly say ‘I will not do that’ no matter what – especially if it’s something you’d normally do anything for. With all this you’ll be ripe and primed for the Meat Loaf experience to end all experiences. Oh, and the reason there’s only seven is because B.O.Of H. only has seven tracks – ya see, smart. ….no fun in that now that it’s written.
The legendary singer hits European shores in two months. TT would advise paying your respects one last time,

If you’re into Jazz, Metal, Rock, Pop, country and good deals then this is the place to be. There’s always great bargains, knowledgeable sellers and good craic to be had. Thin Lizzy Line-up Announce Hiatus and Name Change for New Album
Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags 2012 tour, Belfast, Dublin, name change, New album, Phil Lynott, Ricky Warwick, The Limelight, The Olympia, Thin Lizzy, Trucker Diablo on October 31, 2012 by Tickets There
We were slow for this news, but it must be said. The current line-up of Thin Lizzy have announced they will cease touring under the Lizzy name at the end of this year. Once the band complete their European tour in December, they will officially drop the Thin Lizzy name and announce a new one next year. The band have recently been discussing a new Lizzy album but have now decided to release it with a fresh start.
Despite the name drop, frontman Ricky Warwick did state that this does not necessarily mean the end of Thin Lizzy outright and the line-up may tour as Lizzy again in the future. For now the band want to focus on their new record that they feel is strong enough to win over Lizzy fans and make former singer and all round Irish legend – Phil Lynott, proud.
Details will follow on Tickets There when the band announce further plans. In the meantime, catch Thin Lizzy when they play the last two Irish dates for a while,

The Riptide Movement – Still Keepin’ On
Posted in General Tickets There Blog, Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music, Music Video, New Music, News with tags 2012 tour, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Keep On Keepin' On, Limerick, Navan, The Olympia, The Riptide Movement, Waterford on October 22, 2012 by Tickets ThereDear bands everywhere – this is how it’s done!
The Riptide Movement are a band familiar to us all and well they should be. Along with a limited number of names (not starting any wars here), TRM are the epitome of hard work, performance and energy. They are a credit to the Irish music scene and spend every second they can promoting their band, making themselves sharper, song writing, rehearing, exploring new avenues of self-promotion, making videos and constantly pushing themselves higher and higher up the chain. When they do a tour, it’s not two shows, its thirty. If they don’t have a gig – they busk. When they’re not busking they’re working behind the scenes – constantly and that work is now paying off.
The band are currently in India representing Ireland at the Rendezvous festival in New Delhi, which they’re capturing for Hot Press as their 2012 ‘Most Unusual Gig of the Year’ spot. When they get back, they start the task of promoting new single, ‘Without You’ from their second album, Keep On Keepin’ On that came out earlier this year. The promotion tour will take them around Ireland (including headlining shows at The Olympia, Roisin Dubh, The Forum and Dolan’s Warehouse) before they jet off to Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Prague, Vienna and Amsterdam. Irish dates can be found below and you can expect to see a review of their new single…..very soon.
Oct. 27th – The Slate, Cork.
Nov. 2nd – The Roisin Dubh, Galway
Nov. 10th – The Olympia, Dublin *Almost Sold-Out
Nov. 17th – The Forum, Waterford
Nov. 24th – Dolans Warehouse, Limerick
Nov. 30th – The Palace, Navan
Congrats to the Riptide and please – Keep on setting the bar for others. If all bands worked as hard as you, there’d be a lot less X-Factor in the world.

Review: Voivod – Live @ The Village (October 6th 2012)
Posted in Gig Review, Music with tags Daniel Mongrain, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, Dublin, reviewm live review, Snake, The Village, Voivod on October 10, 2012 by Tickets There
Not being a massive Voivod fan (no disliking them, just haven’t sat down with them near enough), Tickets There was originally going to skip reviewing this gig. It’s not that we don’t like Voivod, but we didn’t feel we possess near enough knowledge of the band’s catalogue to write a review acceptable to their fans… then again, who actually reads this blog anymore anyways? So let’s do it.
First of all – what has happened to the Village? 2 years ago when Exodus landed it was the same cavernous curse it had always been. Since the opening night when Paddy Casey and TURN opened it to a select bunch of Dublin’s elite (and fans who managed to grab a pass via TURN’s tour manager – ala me) the Village has been a curse to see gigs in. Awkward, poorly designed and the slowest bar service in the entire world – period. Tonight however, Tickets There was greatly surprised to see their new strip club / seedy den of sin make over and it’s an incredible improvement. The big manky columns are still there, blocking the view as always; everything else however is 10 times better. No more eyes glaring when you nip off for a slash (2 toilet guys now though. Think it cost me a total of E4 just to take a couple of leaks), an indoor (kind of) smoking area – no more back alley and ten flights of stairs to get through and wall to wall neon lights. Have to say – loving it. Enough of that though, not like Voivod built the damn place.
Up first are hard-core metallers Doom. The name was familiar but after some poor 3rd party digging, they were supposed to be hardcore punk – not interested. Apparently that 3rd party slipped up as the Doom on the night were full on Death Metal (or whatever sub-genre that sounds like Death Metal their fans want to call it). Up in the smoking area, heavy guitars, gruelling vocals and double bass pounding filled the air. After about 30 minutes Tickets There woke up enough to saunter down and catch the last few tracks and they are impressive as hell. The sound, the light show – everything is powerful and the regret now is not catching more of them.
With a pretty full crowd in the Village, an incredible support band to live up to and the temptations of an indoor smoking area, the task now falls to Voivod to keep bums in seats (figuratively) and hands in the air (well, on pints any who). Kicking off with the epic ‘VOIVOD‘, the band sound on top form, same unfortunately can’t be said for their sound which comes across very low down in comparison to Doom’s set. This rattles on for a couple of tracks (‘Ripping Headaches’ and ‘The Prow’) before suddenly a surge kicks in and this show finally gets underway – properzz. The quality of the bands set is pretty astonishing, even to a bystander fan. Tracks like ‘Forgotten In Space’, ‘Target Earth’ and ‘Nothing Face’ electrify the venue with Snake sounding incredible behind the mike. Semi-new guitarist Daniel Mongrain manages the daunting task of winning the crowd over as he still fits the role of ‘new guy’ since replacing the spot left open by deceased founding member Denis “Piggy” D’Amour. “VOIVOD” chants from the front fill the venue between every song with Snake expressing his delight at the size of the crowd and warm response the band are getting. As he rightly points out, ‘Sometimes you just don’t know’.
After what seems like a very short set, the band are gone but it’s not long before they return to play a hit packed encore before calling it a night on their Pink Floyd cover, ‘Astronomy Domine’. A great night and like I said, a band that can entertain anyone – even passers by and in fairness, that’s the real challenge. Entertaining fans is like shooting fish in a barrel anyway.
