Megadeth lose half their line-up

megadeth
A very strange morning for MegadetH fans as news has come through that both drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick have handed in their notice, reducing the group to founding members, Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson. The real reasons behind the split will no doubt emerge in time but for now Shawn is chalking it up to his own interest in pursuing other music avenues, while Chris has blamed “artistic and musical differences“.

Both members released statements in the past few hours confirming their own departure with no comments appearing from the remaining members.

Megadeth have been in the studio for the past few months working on the follow up to 2013’s Super Collider. It is not known what impact the lad’s departure will have the new record.

In the meantime, as MegadetH fans – Tickets There would like to wish Shawn and Chris well. Ye’ve been brilliant whenever we saw ye live and you’ve helped create some seriously savage Megadeth albums. All the best in the future.

Statements from both members can be found below.

10686728_10152508908419077_2140990077237567170_nOh it’s getting serious now folks, First Download and Hellfest and now Graspop and Sweden Rock have unleashed the beasts for next year’s festivities. Both have fairly enticing attractions so the pressure is now on for decision making.

10686728_10152508908419077_2140990077237567170_nGraspop: 19,20,21 JUNE 15
Graspop is coming out mighty strong this year. As one of Europe’s most scared festivals, the chances of a good line-up are always pretty decent and 2015 will be no different. They’ve managed to capture most of the mouth watering touring line-up’s this year.

KISS, Slipknot and Scorpions will headline the event with serious support coming from Judas Priest, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Exodus, KoRn, Body Count, In Flames, Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, PRIMORDIAL and many, many more. Full line-up details and ticket info available here.

CA65FA5ECB43A44ASweden Rock Festival: 3,4,5,6 JUNE 15
One thing – Headliners are the best I’ve seen yet. Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Judas Priest and …ahem, ToTo will headline this four day extravaganza. That’s not all though.

Five Finger Death Punch, Backyard Babies, Opeth, Meshuggah, Hammerfall, D-A-D, Airbourne, Nuclear Assault, Exodus, H.E.A.T., The Quireboys, Exciter, Delan and again, lots more. Sweden Rock have confirmed they still have roughly 50 more bands to be announced so keep an eye on their official site for details as they unfold.

So, what are folks thinking so far?

Download 2015: Day 1 and 2 confirmed. 3rd leaked?

Posted in Festival News, Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 18, 2014 by Tickets There

Download
Well festival season is off to an early start this year. Yesterday the mighty Hellfest released info on over 120 bands that are set to perform at next year’s event and this week Download have been teasing out the first two days of next year’s event with the third and final day set to be confirmed tomorrow, Nov. 19th.

So far, Download have confirmed Slipknot, Judas Priest, Five Finger Death Punch and Black Stone Cherry will be the major names for Day one of the festival (June 12th 2015) followed by MUSE, Faith No More, A Day to Remember and Marilyn Manson on Saturday the 13th of June.

In a TBC post, it seems Gene Simmons, legendary bassist and singer with KISS, Gene Simmons, may have ‘accidently’ leaked the Day 03 line-up. According to his pretty genuine looking poster, the bands set to appear are KISS themselves, Motley Crue, Slash and Enter Shikari. However this hasn’t been confirmed and all will be revealed tomorrow morning at 08:00 am so stay tuned to the official website.

Over a hundred or so more bands will be announced over the coming months. Basic weekend tickets (3 nights camping) will set you back about £205. Check Ticketmaster for more options and prices. They go on sale this Thursday, Nov. 20th.

Hell yes!

The second sessions will feature the excellent Zhora and Alpheidae. Both bands will take the stage some time after midnight and play on till the wee small tiny hours that most of us hazily remember through a fog of shots and spirits. It’s free in if you get your name down on their Facebook wall now…or it might just be free in anyway. Whelan’s are merciful promoters, but do not cross them!

December 4th, Whelan’s – be there and support your local metal scene. Kisses x

Review: Snowblind & Theories Divide – Live @ The Lycan Sessions (Whelans, Nov. 6th 2014)

Posted in Gig Listing, Gig Review, Metal Club Night, Music, News with tags , , , on November 17, 2014 by Tickets There

10686920_475404685931686_8719873132712742308_nIs there anything better than a new night devoted to metal in the capital? Me thinks not. It wasn’t all that long ago that Dublin had two haunts for heavy metal. The downstairs bar in Brux (if you were looking for ridiculously egotistic metal snobs who all at one point or another had managed to ingest pool cues up their rear ends) or the classic Fibber MaGee’s, who in fairness had their moments of hesitation when it came to metal (smell of foam has officially left the building though).

Now things are different. Despite the closure of Fibbers II and the turncoat Pint, we still have Gypsy Rose, Fibbers, Brux, Club Carnage, Club Hell, Club Poison and more to keep us entertained. However – if there’s one thing the city needs is more regular nights with live bands and that’s what Whelan’s are hoping to cater for with their new monthly night, The Lycan Sessions.

IMG_0358Snowblind and Theories Divide are the first acts up to launch metal latest newest night and you’d be hard pressed to come up with better. Theories Divide are first up (at some massively unholy hour when the world wants to sleep but metal heads awake) and you just know they ooze presence. Having seen them a few times it’s obvious that they’re not going to disappear anytime soon (unless they break up for some random reason of course) and you’ll only hear more about them in the coming years.

IMG_0361Snowblind next and God! What can you say about Snowblind that falls short of naked, biased, all out love? Snowblind are just incredible. It’s rare to find a jam metal band in Dublin these days, especially one that can work a room but they do it at the drop of a hat. They’re easily one of the most talented bands in the city, perhaps the country and they gel together so well you could be forgiven for thinking they never leave the stage. Despite the talent and tightness, they still make their show seem like an easy going, on the spot jam. They kick about song ideas, glide through their numbers with casual ease and find subtle opportunities to display each of their own respective talents. Incredible as always and what a start for Whelan’s first metal night. Roll on the next session!

HELLFEST: 1 DAY LEFT BEFORE ANNOUNCEMENT & TICKETS

Posted in Gig Listing, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 16, 2014 by Tickets There

IMG_0455.JPG

That’s right folks, just one day left before Hellfest officially announce the line-up for HELLFEST X or HELLFEST 2015. Several names have been tipped including SLASH, KISS, JUDAS PRIEST, RAMMSTEIN, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MOTLEY CRÜE, MAYHEM, TESTAMENT, NAPALM DEATH but none are 100%. Just one day and we’ll know all.

Also tickets will be going on sale tomorrow, Nov 17th. Only three day tickets will be on sale at first with single day tickets going on sale at a later date. Also capacity will e reduced next year to make things a little more comfortable so beware there will be less tickets available.

With that said, let’s roll on the excitement!

Foo Fighters to headline Slane 2015

According to Rick O’Shea, The Foo Fighters are set to headline Slane on May 30th 2015. The news apparently came from Dave G. Himself. More as we have it.

UPDATE
David Grohl himself confirmed the news live on the Rick O’Shea show. Get excited and except the official MCD announcement shortly.

Apologies to everyone who hopes to hear AC/DC, but doubt anyone will be that disappointed 🙂

Sepultura announce Dublin show

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , on November 11, 2014 by Tickets There

10443417_723849844350417_8668029698061792803_nRight, this time there’s no stopping Tickets There. Sepultura are making their almost annual visit to Dublin and we’re not missing another one. They rocked Hellfest this year and proved that live, they’re still an unstoppable force. They performed before a sold out crowd earlier this year and by all accounts rocked the Academy to it’s very foundations and they’re gearing up to do it all over again next August.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 14th priced €25 from all Ticketmaster outlets and online. The show happens August 10th at The Academy. Support still TBC. You can follow the Official Event Page from DME for updates.

Brazil has been delivering a brutal mix of metal, hardcore, thrash, punk and tribal that could hardly be more intense or more passionate. What had begun in Belo Horizonte in 1984 soon turned into a metal hurricane of threatening proportions and has taken on undreamt-of dimensions since the enlistment of American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998. You have to experience this band live on stage to understand the fascination that this South-American act holds. And Sepultura’s current songs always indicate the future of heavy metal.

Into The Void announce store closure

246440_567305073288833_1384730772_nSad news for Dublin’s metal community as Into the Void have announced they’ll be closing doors at the end of the year. The shop opened in 2011 after the closure of Sentinel Records  in 2010. The shop is the  united effort of Sarlacc Productions, Underground Movement and Blind Men & Occult Forces as well as Sentinel Records. It has specialised in promoting underground acts since it’s inception and will leave a very deep hole for up and coming bands in the city.

They’ll be announcing a closing party soon but in the mean time make it your mission to visit the store, spend a few shillings and discover one of Irish metal’s hidden gems. We’ve lost too many haunts now so get out, support your scene and be happy. Also give them a like on Facebook to follow further updates on the store’s physical and metaphysical future.

DEATH DTA announce Dublin return

1149125_10204883195748341_5627913953038242230_o

Last year we were in shock when Death announced they’d reformed and were coming over to Europe for a tour. Of course, no Death line-up is every going to be fully complete with the presence of a certain Mr. Schuldiner, but who worries about these things? All those Death songs were sitting dormant for long enough and needed to be aired out. So, last November they came to the Academy as Death DTA (Death to All) and put on an incredible show. No Chuck, but remaining members from the Human era with Max Phelps on vocals were spectacular. Their dedication to Death’s legacy and performance would have been more than enough to make Chuck proud – saying that as a person that never knew the man, but he would have been a right fussy fuss pot not to have enjoyed the show. Now count your lucky stars if you missed it because they’re coming back!

DEATH DTA are returning to The Academy on March 3rd to celebrate Chuck and the twentieth anniversary of the Symbolic album. The night promises to be an incredible tribute to one of metal’s pioneers and the genre/music he created with stealer musicians, savage tunes and pints a plenty. Tickets are on sale now priced €27.50 from all Ticketmaster outlets and online of course. Follow the official event page for all the scoop.

  • DME Presents: Death DTA
  • Support: Massacre, Abysmal Dawn, Loudblast
  • Date: March 3rd, 2015
  • Doors: 18:00 (18+ show)

10710701_659360664179478_5889293512895674715_nJD Metal Promotions have announced the headliners for this year’s Winter Assault and they haven’t disappointed. What better way to pass up three day old turkey and the dwindling stock piles of junk than by getting out into the crisp air and enjoying serious lashings of ye olde metal – WARPARTY style.

One of Dublin’s elite death metal bands, WARPATH will headline the night which will also feature Furnaze (Germany), the excellent Syphor, Axial Symmetry, Cursed Sun and more TBC.

It all goes down at Fibber MaGees on December 27th. Ticket prices and further line-up updates coming soon. Keep an eye on the Event Page for updates.

Merry f**king Christmas indeed!

HELLFEST X announcement in SIX days

The tenth instalment of everyone’s favourite heavy metal festival is set to be announced in six days time. Fans (me) have been panicked that this year’s usual September announcement had been delayed but organizers have now confirmed they will not announce a small portion of the bill this side of Christmas, but instead will announce the entire program for HELLFEST X.

Last year Hellfest IX displayed one of the greatest line-ups in heavy metal history so there’s a lot to live up to. Rumours on possible bands have been circulating since this years festival ended and they’ve only gotten more intense with announcements that Metallica, KISS, AC/DC, Slipknot, Judas Priest, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Def Leppard and many, many more are all touring Europe this summer.Who will land on the mighty Hellfest bill? Keep your eyes peeled to Hellfest.fr next Monday for the official unveiling.

..or you could be lazy and just wait for us to tell you. I mean, it’s not like the official Hellfest page needs to the views to keep them in business. Yes, watch Tickets There and nothing else. In fact, forget the internet. Set up a Facebook/twitter account – subscribe to tickets there and never again worry about other pages.

Psykosis lead Fibber MaGees Halloween Carnage

Posted in Gig Listing, Music with tags , , , , , , , on October 31, 2014 by Tickets There

1601433_683717905052856_7044808280993022342_nIt’s Halloween and you know what that means – serious metal mayhem all around the capital, perhaps the country but that’s none of our business here and time strapped and under-resourced Tickets There HQ. The most exciting event to come out for this year’s ghoulish festivities is a very special Club Carnage which is happening tonight and features the most metal line-up you could ever ask for.

Psykosis will lead the event, supported by Guttrench, Theories Divide, Bäkken and Negative Nero. This will be Psykosis first Dublin show since they performed at Bloodstock 2014 and possibly their last before the release of their debut album (details coming soon). On top of all that, you’ll get mad drink offers, there’s fancy dress, hot women, hairy men and a very special €300 cash prize for best costume!

Get down there and have a laugh. Happy Halloween!

1349 Announced Dublin show

10641154_10204755523036603_2711795074740805167_n
Black metal will cast a dark spell over the capital this winter. With Behemoth already confirmed to play the Academy on Dec 11th, it appears the corpse paint may need to be purchased a little earlier than expected if you’re to catch 1349’s return to our fair country.

What dark pagan magic is this you ask? Only the mighty powers of DME and their knack for getting us destroyed at the end of every year so we don’t feel like our laziness from January – September was a total waste of time. I’m rambing, forgive me. Nice to be back announcing gigs.

Anyways, 1349 became near and dear to me after their incredible performance ah this year’s Hellfest. I had deep regrets about missing their last show in… was it the Pint? Anyways, won’t be missing this one. Get your ass down to The Voodoo Lounge, November 22nd and don’t make my mistake. Tickets on sale now priced €20. More details can be found at the Official Event page.

Slipknot / KoRn tickets on sale now

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , on October 17, 2014 by Tickets There

slipknotDid your sixteen year old self leap for delight when this show was announced last week? Nu-metal or not, there is ridiculous levels of excitement for this tour. The return of Slipknot and a chance to see KoRn back on an arena stage where they belong.

Slipknot’s history is Ireland has been far rarer than KoRn’s making this an extra special show for fans. Many, like myself, will remember the disappointment of their last minute cancelation of their first Irish show way back in 2000 or 2001 after a ****ing parents group or some s**** had them banned. They made it up though when they finally made their debut appearance supporting Metallica in 2004, going on to be every bit as incredible as reports had hailed them to be. They even managed to win over the naysayers while they were at it. One final gig occurred in 2005 and it’s been silent since.

Now with a new album out (TODAY) and a new line-up, the Knot are coming back. No matter how much you (talking to the cynical older crowd here) thought you’d moved on and shrugged off that haircut, you’ll probably wish just a little bit you already had your tickets., it’s not too late my friends, it’s not too late.

it will be if you wait much longer of course so go but them. There was supposed to be a competition on Tickets There but my own honesty has made sure that’s not going to happen. if you expect Tickets There to do it for you, you’ll be waiting a long time.

Tickets available for Slipknot and KoRn’s January 14th show at the 3Arena are on sale now priced €59.50 from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nation wide.
