TURN Set to Re-Unite For Electric Picnic

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , on August 9, 2012 by Tickets There

A very exciting moment for Tickets There as our favorite Irish band of all time, TURN have announced they are officially rehearsing again and preparing to play Electric Picnic this year. Lead singer and guitarist Oliver Cole posted the following message on his facebook page confirming the news in the last hour,

Well it’s true. Gavin, Ian, Ciaran and myself have been rehearsing with Turn for electric picnic this year.

We play the Cosby tent at 5.30 on Saturday.

It’s gonna be awesome. It sounds so good. Expect a greatest hits set. It’s good to rock

The legendary Kell’s rockers formed in the late nineties and went on to produce a number of hit singles, several EP’s and three critically acclaimed albums before calling it a day in 2006. Now they’re coming back – as a foursome. Founding members, Oliver Cole, Gavin Fox and Ian Melady are all confirmed to take part, as is 2005 era bassist, Ciaran Kavanagh, also playing an unconfirmed role in the reunion.

So far only an appearance at the Picnic has been confirmed, but in subsequent comments to the post, Oliver stated there could be a couple more …()… Will keep everyone abreast of goings on’.

Are you excited? Hell yeah you are and this is going to make it even better – Ollie has also confirmed it’ll be a full on greatest hits set for the show so all you EP heads make sure you’re there on Saturday and see one of the best live bands we’ve ever produced, ply their trade as it should be – in front of thousands.

Tickets There will make sure we keep you updated on this. Good times! Anyone want to refresh some details about the band, here’s your chance,

Sepultura Announce 2012 Dublin Return

Posted in Gig Listing, Music with tags , , , on June 7, 2012 by Tickets There

Good news for metal fans! After a stellar sold-out show at the Academy in 2010, Sepultura have announced their Irish return.  The Brazilin thrash metal icons will take the stage of The Academy on August 11th. .

Sepultura are a phenomenon. For over twenty five years, the band from Brazil has been delivering a brutal mix of metal, hardcore, thrash, punk and tribal that could hardly be more intense or more passionate. What had begun in Belo Horizonte in 1984 soon turned into a metal hurricane of threatening proportions and has taken on undreamt-of dimensions since the enlistment of American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998. You have to experience this band live on stage to understand the fascination that this South-American act holds. And Sepultura’s current songs always indicate the future of heavy metal.

Tickets for Sepultura live at The Academy on 11th August are priced €25 including booking fee and go on sale on Friday 8th June.

Wacken Metal Battle: Semi-Final 1 Results

Posted in Gig Listing, Gig Review, Music on February 27, 2012 by Tickets There

The first of two Semi-Finals for the Wacken 2012 Metal Battle took place in the Pint on Saturday (Feb 25th). Six bands from around the country battled it out to earn a place in the final which takes place on April 21st at The Pint, Dublin. There were three places up for grabs and they went to Warpath, Exzeltic and Beltbuckle Overdrive, all from Dublin. Despite putting on a great show, Belfast born Red Six failed to make it through, nor did Kildare hopefuls, Spittin’ Bones or the extremely confusing Clurichaun from Tipperary.

Warpath were always going to easily walk through to the final in this writers opinion. Their power and brutal grasp of the classic death metal style make them a hot contender for first place in the final, let a lone the semi and seeing them on stage was a reminder of that. You know it’s good when you spend the gig wondering what it is you did to piss the singer off so much.

Exzeltic were a Tickets There choice for review some time back and we passed. One of those wonderful occasions where the MySpace wasn’t up to scratch but the band rock like mother**kers. They went up first to feck all folks and still managed to pull through. Excellent, tight solo ridden thrash metal. Win or lose, Tickets There will be paying much closer attention to these guys from now on.

And finally we come to the third winner, Beltbuckle Overdrive. BBOD probably need a few more practices before they’ll really pull you in, but that’s our opinion. For the many folks that showed up just to hear them play it’s a different story. Fun to watch, bass player seems mental.

So it’s all eyes on the second Semi-Final which takes place on March 24th @ The Pint. On the bill you have Bakken, By Any Means, Celtachor, Dirty Diamonds, Psykosis and Zealot Cult.

KISS Announced As Sonisphere 2012 UK Headliners
