The Lycan Sessions: December line-up revealed

The Lycan sessions are coming back next month with two more exciting bands you need to catch. For those not in the know, The Lycan is Whelan’s newest night – dedicated to brining you some of the best live talent from around the county. Oh, and did we mention it’s all 100% HEAVY F**KING METAL? Hell yes!

The second sessions will feature the excellent Zhora and Alpheidae. Both bands will take the stage some time after midnight and play on till the wee small tiny hours that most of us hazily remember through a fog of shots and spirits. It’s free in if you get your name down on their Facebook wall now…or it might just be free in anyway. Whelan’s are merciful promoters, but do not cross them!

MONSTERS OF ROT IV ANNOUNCED

While we look in wonder and amazement at the continent and it’s incredible array of festivals that deliver the greatest bands on the planet, year after year – it’s important we don’t fixate too long or we’ll never get a chance to support and grow indigenous efforts to cater to the metal masses. With that said, it’s about time we all had a good look north and realize how good this year’s MONSTERS OF ROT is looking.

Held in Fermanagh, Monsters of Rot IV is bigger and badder than ever before as it has announced two stages, nearly twenty acts and the best value you could ever ask for. OVEROTH and COLDWAR are set to headline the one day event with Zombified, Gargantuan, Dead Aeon, Bipolar Joe appearing in the line-up (full breakdown by stage can be found below).

It all happens in The Halfway Inn, Letterbreen on August 16th. Entry is £15 | E18 and that includes camping. Full details can be found on the Facebook page and an official; website will be online soon.

WACKEN METAL BATTLE IRELAND 2014 FINAL Announced

Summertime is fast approaching and that means festival seasons is almost upon us. That also means it’s time to find an Irish band on par with Coldwar, Warpath and Overoth and send them over to Waken Open Air to represent Ireland in the Wacken Metal Battle!

The final six bands were announced this morning after Megalomania Production (in partnership with Carnage Metalclub) decided to forego the usual semi-final rounds. Going for the competition are Alpheidae, Animator, Killface, Shardborne, Theories Divide and Zhora.

It all goes down in Fibber MaGees on June 7th. Entry is just €5 and you can follow all the latest updates on their Facebook Event Page.

DAY OF DECAY II ANNOUNCED

The most exciting thing about this time of year is the anticipation of the forthcoming summer nights of metal, booze and good people. Yesterday the second Unleashed Festival was confirmed to be taking place again in Fibbers and now the DAY OF DECAY II has been announced. Tickets There will never live down having to miss last year’s amazing line-up, but the good folks at Beyond Decay Promotions have a very tasty list of bands to make this year’s event just as good. Oh, and did we mention this year’s it’s TWO DAYS OF DECAY? That’s right!

UK based death metallers DYSCARNATE will headline the two day event that sees international and the best of our home grown ass kickers share two stages over two days. Fibber MaGee’s will once again host BASEMENT TORTURE KILLINGS, BLACK SKIES BURN, FOUL BODY AUTOPSY, XENOCIDE, VILE REGRESSION, ATONEMENT, ABHORRENT DECIMATION, SKEWERED, zhOra, TWISTED AUTOCRACY, DEAD AEON, KILLFACE and more to be announced.

WATERFORD METAL FEST COMETH

Cunning Metal Promotions are bringing some of the hottest name from the Irish metal scene to Waterford this month for a night of unadulterated lunacy.

WARPATH are set to headline the Waterford Metal Fest which is taking place in The Forum on January 25^th. Also on the bill are Psykosis, Killface, Atominated, Xenocide, Animator, Zhora, Awaken Dominion, Uproot Chaos and 12 Guage Outrage, Legion of Wolves with more to be added. Entry is just €7 and the whole thing is due to kick off around 3pm.

SIEGE OF LIMERICK X Announced For October Bank Holiday Weekend

The tenth Siege of Limerick has been announced and it’s going to be a monster. With a headliner still to confirm next month, the Siege have already announced a mouth-watering line-up of metal delights that are sure to entice.

This July sees the second instalment of the (best named metal event series ever) ‘CURSE THE GODS OF SUMMER’ mini-festival. 13 bands, 1 day, 1 venue, drinks promos, summer BBQ and lots more await you at one of Ireland’s best value music events.

The first twelve bands have been confirmed and among them, some of Ireland’s most aggressive, hard hitting, guitar shredding, ear bleeding rock monsters including Warpath, Dead Label, Psykosis and Only Fumes and Corpses. It all kicks off at 2pm, July 14^th, The Pint, Eden Quay, Dublin.
