Last night, the GN’R boyos played an exclusive, invite only (la-de-da) stripped back show at the Hiro Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel in New York (previously unannounced – show #4 of the UCAP special). They played a full set in the small room with the band appearing as they are, no stage shows, gimmicks, nothing. Aside from some gobshite who through a glass a Ron Thal, the show seems to have gone off exactly with another packed set that still includes – ‘I used to Love Her’ but no ‘Shacklers Revenge’ for Tickets There (sad face).

Oh, and did we mention Guns N’ Roses will play Israel at Hayarkon Park, Tel Aviv on July 3rd?. Be there or …. be at temple I suppose. Either way have a good excuse! This is the 12th show of their 2012 summer tour with many more still to come (we hope!)

A big thank you to www.chinesedemocracy.com for the pictures.

**Update – February 13th2012 – Switzerland Show Announced
**

Just after we confirm there’s no new European updates, we get a f**king-nother one. Not that the good people of Switzerland are going to mind. Guns N’ Roses have confirmed a date at St. Jakobshalle, Basel for the 27th of June. The venue holds about 9,000 people and was made famous by inspiring Bob Dylan to begin his ‘Never ending tour’, which anyone that’s ever seen Bob Dylan will know is not necessarily a good thing. Give it up Bob, give it up. (excellent use of Wikipedia there TT! – Ed). Tickets are priced CHF 80.00 and go on sale…well, best we can tell is they’re on sale now – Click Here

**Update – February 13th2012 – Guns N’ Roses ‘Up Close and Personal’, 2 Dates In**

Guns N’ Roses are two dates into their ‘Up Close and Personal’ US tour. The band are playing seven American shows in much smaller venues than you’d normally see them in an effort to reconnect with fans and the band’s roots. So far the group have performed two of the three New York shows with the tour starting in Manhattan’s Roseland Ballroom before moving on to Terminal 5, which is located in Hell’s Kitchen. Both venues have an approx. capacity of 3,000. Next stop will be the show everyone’s been waiting for, a return to ‘The Ritz’ (1,500 capacity – awesome) where the band recorded their famous ‘Guns N’ Roses Live At The Ritz concert in 1988. The venue has since returned to its original name, Webster Hall but in honour of Gun’s return, they’re renaming it for one night.

So far the sets have been in the range of two hours and forty minutes with a selection of songs to please any fan (aside from ‘Chinese Democracy’ no longer appearing on the set – Boo urns!). With songs, solo’s and jams – the set features roughly 29 different moments. Standouts include ‘Estranged’, ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘Civil War’, ‘This I Love’, ‘Rocket Queen’ and ‘Better’.  Full dates for the remaining shows can be seen below and on Guns N’ Roses official website – www.gunsnroses.com

2/15 — New York, N.Y., The Ritz (Webster Hall)
2/19 — Chicago, Ill., House of Blues
2/21 – Detroit, MI., The Filmore (Detroit)

Denis Desmond, head of Irish concert promoter recently spoke to The Irish Times and confirmed Guns singe, Axl Rose had personally requested a date in Dublin’s O2 arena as he feels there is unfinished business with the band’s Irish fans. You know what that’s in reference to. Tickets There managed to wreck several folks heads in the pub last night with our cheers of joy over this announcement and we plan on doing the same for all of our readers over the next four months.

This is becoming a tradition at this stage, but 2012 is easily kicking off with the brightest start yet. GUNS N’ ROSES Announce 2012 Dublin Show

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , on January 27, 2012 by Tickets There

I know right! WTF is going on in the world? As ZombieDee phrased it, has hell actually frozen over and do they need additional heaters to stop their water tanks from collapsing through their celling’s? Dear hell, if you are in need of assistance please do not be too proud to ask. We Irish have been through it enough.

Seriously though, seriously! Guns N’ Roses, the greatest hard rock band in the world have (seriously) announced a show at Dublin’s Point Theatre (O2 Arena) for the 17th of May. Ahem, you may remember their infamous 2010 show at the same venue….need I try to carry on with half assed witty comments?? I think not.

Guns N’ Roses are coming back, tickets go on sale next Friday, February 3rd @ 09:00 priced €65.45 plus booking fee from ticketmaster.ie. This will be just a few weeks after their inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame which is expected to see the original line-up reform for one night in celebration of the event. There’s also talk the new Guns will be touring Europe all summer so expect a few more dates soon.

Note to Fans: Get over it! If you don’t want to go then don’t. The band will arrive late, Slash will not be there so don’t buy a ticket if all you’re going to do is bitch about the new line-up, Axl, the tardiness..etc, etc. Go see another band if you want punctuality. If you go see Guns N’ Roses prepare for a taxi home (cause there’ll be no trains), a long wait and one of the best live shows you’ll ever see with three hours of incredible music. You have four months to save for the taxi and a few extra pints so no bitch slap rapping!

That’s right, one of Irelands most successful bands, The Stunning are coming back to Dublin…This SUNDAY! A Gig 4 Michael D. has been set up to raise funds for presidential hopeful Michael D. Higgins and the Stunning are lending a hand. This will be the group’s first Dublin show in two years and promises to be a savage night featuring a full set of all their hits.

It all takes place this Sunday, October 23rd at the Village. Tickets are €16.50 and are available from the WAV ticket office outside the venue (beside Whelan’s).  There’s be two support acts on the night (yet to be announced) and discounts for unwaged and students. Entertainment.ie press release below,

The Stunning have been confirmed as headliners for a special show in The Village, in support of Higgins’ Presidential campaign.

The gig, which will be The Stunning’s first Dublin show in two years, takes place upstairs in The Village, on Sunday October 23, with doors opening at 7pm.

Michael D., who was Minister for Arts, Culture and an Gaeltacht during the ’90s, remains passionate about the role of the arts, and sees creativity as a central plank of his vision for the presidency. “As a candidate for President,” he says, “I offer a vision of a radically inclusive citizenship, in a creative society, worthy of a real Republic – making us proud to be Irish in the world.”

The Stunning will play a full set, making it a great chance to see these Irish rock legends play their most intimate Dublin show since reforming. Two support acts will be announced over the coming days. The gig follows a summer of acclaimed Stunning performances to expectant crowds at a variety of festivals over the summer – from the Sea Sessions to Sligo.

There will be DJs of all shades downstairs on the night, with plenty of surprises in store.

Tickets There will be there. Politics aside – no one should miss an opportunity to rock out with the Stunning. For more information, check out Entertainment.ie

The Plea: Dublin and Belfast Gigs Announced

Posted in Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music with tags , , , on September 29, 2011 by Tickets There

Anyone who was at Ash’s gig in Whelan’s back in June will surely remember their opening act, The Plea. Hailing from Donegal and playing some fine-ass  psychedelic rock noise, The Plea are without a doubt an act you should be looking out for….so here’s your chance J

In support of their forthcoming single, ‘The Odyssey’; which is slated for release on October 7th, the lads have announced a couple of gigs for Dublin and Belfast which take place next month. For those based in the fair city, you’ll catch them in The Academy 2 on October 5th. If you’re reading all the way from Titanic town, then head along to Auntie Annie’s on October 9th.

Tickets for Dublin are priced €7.50 so Belfast will more than likely be £5 – but don’t quote us. Check out the new single below.

The Pint continues it’s dominating stronghold of the live metal scene in Dublin with this announcement. Dubbed ‘Hail The Gods of Winter’, the one day event being held on January 28th boats 12 bands in one day including well known acts like For Ruin, I’ll Eat Your Face, Sirocco and Waylander (well, we’ve heard of Waylander) not to mention drink promos, stalls and a winter BBQ. All this for a lowly, lowly, lowly, measly, so measly you’d have to ask yourself ‘as a heavy metal fan living in Dublin, how can I justify not going to this?’ measly price of €5 on the door.

The whole thing is being brought to you by Crunch Metal Promotions (who ran Curse The Gods of Summer earlier in the year) and bands are still being confirmed so keep checking C.M.P.’s event page for more details. All confirmed names announced so far can be found below

Celtachor, For Ruin, I’ll Eat Your Face, Sirocco, Shardborne, Syphor, WayLander + 5 More.

Dublin Metal Events: Upcoming 2011 / 2012 Shows

Posted in Gig Listing, Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 20, 2011 by Tickets There

The good folks over at D.M.E. (Dublin Metal Events) have an savage line-up of shows ready to suit the needs of every shot downing, leather wearing, long haired legend in the country. Whether you love rock, hard rock, glam rock, heavy metal, Celtic metal, black metal, death metal or sher, unadulterated gore infestation of the most ancient, alien-enslaving nature – DME got your back ya’ll.

Kicking us off is one of the foundation stones of Irish metal, Primordial. Celebrating two decades together, Primordial will be blowing the walls of the Academy this Saturday after an incredible year that’s seen them finally earn the respect they (and the Irish metal scene) deserve. Since it’s not TT’s cup of tea, we’re not going to bandwagon jump here – but it’s great to see an Irish act get some real recognition. It’s been twenty years, but incredibly enough it might just be the beginning.

Next big one on the TT Calendar (well actually, the first one on our own gig planner) – Norwegian black metal lovelies, 1349. Named after the year the Black Death gripped Norway, 1349 intend on re-igniting the flame of Lucifer in The Pint on October 15th in what will hopefully be a full on corpse-paint blood fest. Wonder how our Def Leppard love will go down with this crowd?

Second on our own planner (all dates listed below – no need to panic), Gorgoroth & Vader @ The Button Factory on November 12th. Now, TT doesn’t know a whole pile about Gotgoroth (aside from folks constantly saying they’re frickin’ amazing!) but we managed to catch Vader’s last Irish show in Whelan’s and that’s enough for us. Without a doubt Poland’s premier metal band and one you should do anything you can to see live.

The Quireboys introduce a little good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll into the line-up when they play Whelan’s on November 27th. Sing along with their classics and you can enjoy Belfast’s Million $ Reload, who’ll be joining them on the night as support. Both bands get a double TT thumbs up which, as you all know, is the highest mark of respect in the world!

Bringing us towards the end of 2011 will be two almost back to back hair metal bonanza nights. First up, The excellent Reckless Love who’ll be hitting Whelan’s on December 2nd for a night of hairspray, spandex and some of the best rock n roll classics ever to emerge out of Finland (Hanoi who now?). Again anyone that was at their Crawdaddy show will agree that this gig promises to be something very special. After that we get some Swedish glam rock from Crashdiet who’ll also be abringing local lads Eazy Tyger along for support. Anyone that hasn’t seen them in a while would do…alright to check out their regular show in Gypsy Rose as there’s a new singer and new sound…well, newish. Both nights promise to make for a great end to 2011 with one final surprise up DME’s sleeve…..

Beasts of the night, enslavers of men and the all-round overlords of the Universe – GWAR will be ringing in the New Year in chaotic fashion when they arrive on stage in Dublin’s Button Factory on Januray 17th to show people how gore metal and stage theatrics should be done. GWAR have always been the pinnacle of on stage extremity with January’s show promising to be one of the highlights of the decade, let alone the year. More details still to be confirmed for this one but D.M.E. are hoping to have this sorted later in the week.

So to sum up, we’re not exactly stuck are we? All tickets are on sale now from Into The Void Records and Ticketmaster.ie (and outlets nationwide) for all events (except GWAR for the moment) and you’ve also got shows from Onslaught, Christ Agony, Evile and Hail of Bullets just in case none of the above appeal to you (although you should ask yourself ‘what sort of person isn’t infatuated by GWAR?’. We say bad people!!). Full list of gigs is available below, keep checking D.M.E.’s official website for more details.

ASH Announce special ‘Free All Angles’ Dublin Show (Wow, talk about being behind – but we’re catching up).

Posted in Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , on September 20, 2011 by Tickets There

Well Tickets There has been very quiet for the past three months, but if anything can bring us out of semi-retirement, it’s the wonderful ASH. How did they do it you ask (unless you have the internet and already know about this story because other, far more reliable steady sites have reported it weeks ago), well it’s simple! ASH, live in Dublin, playing the Free All Angles album in its entirety (plus a few others) with the wonderfully lovely Charlotte Hatherley back in the line-up. Maybe we should start from the beginning, ya haven’t got all day!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their classic ‘Free All Angles’ album, Ash have announced a series of special IRE/U.K. shows which take place this October and will see the band playing the album in its entirety with former guitarist Charlotte Hatherley re-joining the band to make the shows as special as you can get.

It all takes place at Dublin’s Academy venue on October 18th with tickets priced €20 plus booking fee. They’re on sale now and honestly, unless you have an amazingly valid excuse – Tickets There will think less of you for not attending this show. (thank you MCD and ASH!)

Check Out: SOnance HOtel

Posted in Gig Listing, IRISH NOISE!, Music, News with tags , , , , , on June 29, 2011 by Tickets There

For the last couple of weeks Tickets There has been enjoying a new find, SOnance Hotel. Formed and driven by X-Humanzi sticks man, Brian Gallagher; Sonance Hotel have been writing and recording for over two years and are now ready to release their début album Don’t Look Behind You on July 15th.

Describing the music, you’d have to take influences from urban post rock and brit pop before adding that special something all great song writers throw into the mix to call it their own. As well as arranging and composing the entire album himself, Brian has also performed every instrument and produced the record in the true D.I.Y. spirit all young musicians crave in this day and age.

The Mighty Stef’s label (First Born Is Dead Recordings) are releasing the record and you can catch SOnance Hotel live in Twisted Pepper on the 15th at the album’s launch night. Check out their Facebook for more details. Watch this space for more about SOnance Hotel.
